Drying humidity/airflow question - Rep+

I'm leaving for 3 weeks tomorrow. I'm cutting my plants today and drying them whole. I'm not removing any of the leaves or buds. The GROWFaq says this is the best way to do it and says that it takes about 3-4 weeks for them to dry this way at 55%-60% humidity. The average humidity here is about 35-40%. I'm going to dry the plants in a closet that will remain shut for 3 weeks. I will have an oscillating fan inside. I assume the humidity will rise some as the water evaporates from the plant and goes in the closet. The fan will not be blowing directly on the plants. Should I keep the fan running 24 hrs or put it on a timer?

The best possible solution would be to regulate venting the closet via a Humistat Controller.

You should also have some small air circulation in there, but nothing blowing directly on the buds.

There are large cracks where my door closes so I have a blackout curtain inside the closet door.

For growing, I have the fan in the bottom right, where I've cut a hole in the curtain. It pulls in some fresh air from the door cracks.

For drying, I want to keep the curtain closed to hold in some humidity.

Should I put the fan in the middle of the closet oscillating? or should I leave it in the corner here so some new fresh air comes in?

On a timer, down at the corner bringing in fresh air for sure. You want to avoid it getting too humid in the airspace because that could cause mold.

Bring in fresh air maybe once an hour for 15 mins or so ? Depends on how big a space it is.

My timer isn't the kind that can do that. It can only turn on and off at a certain time... Up to 2 times each. I doubt much new air gets sucked in from the door cracks. I'm sure there is some but I think it is very minimal. The closet is very small... about 4X3 feet.

Ya a Digital timer would allow you a bit more control.

Can you rig it so the fan is on with the timer and shuts off for a few hours a day, twice a day ?

Yeah... I actually may even be able to do 3 times a day. There are little pins for on and off. I have 2 ons and offs and I think my roommate has 1 I can use... maybe even 2... So I may be able to go on and off 4 times each a day.
