Is wallyduck around anymore? I'd like to reestablish the foot into my growing area and the woods therein. It used to be quite rampant here then things got crazy for a bit and it was gone or move out west who knows. If anyone can help to find the wonderful ducksfoot please do share with me!7adleafs-med.jpg7fixedpinkp-med.jpgView attachment 2458994

I absolutley love this strain. had the pleasure of seeing one at harvest and it just towered over everything else in the garden even the damn sunflowers! Monster phenotype with good ole jersy cow shit for outdoor fert, with a hardcore new england summer, if i recall that year we went the gamut of hail in may to snow in sept! Phenomanol smoke imho. Very resistant from what im told, and id like to to roll around in it a big vat of its trim one time! Yeah im a whackjob like that!View attachment 2459216ducksfoot leaf.jpg

That's why we developed selective breeding, if they can make good autos I'm sure there's dank ducks foot, I mean that's why cannabis is so cool..... Did u hear about the cows over in Europe that they found had aurochs genes? Supposedly they can bring aurochs back from extinction.., by selectivley breeding this certain group. I mean they say it can happen in 10 to 15 years that's crazy, especially since the last one died when Shakespeare was alive in the 1400"s

They say this, but it remains to be seen if its true or not.

In order to bring back an extinct line you need to have a complete copy of its genome. Otherwise you're just making what might be termed an "artful fake".

They do now have a map of the Auroch genome, so that's a necessary first step, though not a sufficient one.

The only way you could re-create an Auroch using current cattle would be if every gene present in Aurochs is also present in current cattle. . .ie absolutely no Auroch genetic material was lost in the last 400 years during their extinction. Don't know if that's true, but its doubtful.

Of note, people have tried to recreate the Auroch this way before. It was done in the late 1920s and 1930s in a German project actually supported by Nazi Germany. The Nazis though that the "Auroch" (ie "original ox") would be a good symbol for their Aryan genetic "purity", and bringing back an extinct species would be a triumph of their science and genetics. Anyway, the scientists/breeders involved did create extra-large cattle, but they weren't really Auroch: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heck_cattle

More info now should result in a better match, though it remains to be seen how close they can get.

In theory, even if some genetic material was lost, with good enough DNA/chromosomal modelling technology, it should be possible to directly recreate/synthesize an Auroch genome, either from scratch, or (more simply) by genetically altering "normal" cattle DNA, a la "Jurassic Park". But right now that sort of biotechnology is still the stuff of science fiction.

Stealth maybe but how she smoke?
was just cleaning my inbox out, and someone mentioned duck's foot as one of their favorite strains. i think this is the first time i've actually seen the leaves. i wast thinking they would be more fanned out like regular leaves with extra webbing and not that "oval" shape. the strain would be extra stealth if you staked it to the ground.

i ran across this strain once, it was in a garden of several genetics and I poped a seed and out she came, at first I thought I did something wrong to her or maybe it was some genetic mutant. everyone that saw it wouldnt believe it was pot at first, in veg she would fool the nosiest neighbor not much smell, but once you flower you totally can tell, but not a very strong smell, it would make for a great OD plant, has large yields big hazey buds (I had mango going on same run and the bud strutures were similar) with a 'different'kinda sweet fruity flavor not bad, I wouldnt mind growing her outside sometime.

Yeah, my humanities teacher was going on about it...seems kinda out there but he sure knew what he was talking about, I forget where he said this group was, I'd ask but were on break for college still. But if I recall there's a couple dif kinds of duck foot leaves, but maybe I'm wrong... I do know that some autos I grew last grow had some crazy leafs.... It didn't even look like mmj until the 4 true leaf set it kinda looked like... Idk how to describe it went .. Stem leaf blade on other side of stem about 3 cms down another speare leaf... Then another four cms down it had a group of thes fat yet skinny trio cluster of leaves.... I wish I had a pic that was a shit explanation, but any who yeah. Ducks foots cool and I do hope it's not lost like the auroch.... Unless these scientist can bring em back..... Have you seen any other duck foot strains I swear I remember seeing one with thinner leaves

There is also another similar strain from down under called Alstrailian Bastard Canabis or ABC something like that it has simlar leaf deforations, just remember it from when I was tracking down info from when I first got the duckfoot...

im growing out a blue Australian and wen i talked to my friend who gave me the seeds he said webbed leaves are a trait on a lot of Australian strains ive been growin since 1987 and these are the first plants ive ever seen with this pheno

Catman above has a pack of them going right now..... sounds like he's happy so far. I've heard excellent things on it from others too. Here's a pic of what duck foot leaves look like.

I've never grown this one myself, but I've read quite a bit about it, and this is what I've gathered:

-Duckfoot is basically an "outdoor only" strain, apparently it doesn't do too well under artificial lights.

-Grown outdoors it can be potent.

-The webbed leaves tend to go away late in flower, and the plant will still look (and smell) like cannabis if you're close to it. In other words, the "stealth" effect isn't quite as good as you might hope. An auto purple webbed duckfoot, I think, would be the 'ultimate' stealth plant.

-Duckfoot isn't the only webbed strain; there is also some Hawaiian one.

-The Australian "bastard" cannabis, is a bit different, apparently it has completely unserrated leaves that curl, to the point where this plant can barely be recognized as cannabis at al. I've heard that unlike Ducksfoot (which can be found outside of Australia) the ABC genetics are fairly tightly held onto, so good luck finding any. Also, these genetics are apparently not that easy to work with, so even if you can find a plant, you're unlikely to be able to cross it with your favorite OG then make stealthy "OG bastard cannabis F2"!

You can get some sense of what these look like here:
https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/299944-heaths-dizzy.html#post3751014

And you can read about "Bindi" the Australian Bastard Cannabis here:
http://www.cannabisculture.com/articles/1651.html

Edit:
By the way, if anyone knows where a guy could get some ABC/Bindi ceeds, please let me know.

that's closer to what i was thinking duck's foot looks like. it would be so freakin' cool to be able to genetically re-engineer weed to produce a sativa high in a tiny odor free stealth plant that takes just a month to finish for a true "sea of green". eh... fuck that, just storm fucking DC and demand legalization!
