Okay something seems to be a miss here , im not understanding something here, or have i got something wrong or did i get some defective item?

Anyway i purchased this carbon filter and inline exhaust fan :

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271391517386&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:AU:1123

now i am confused

the side of the fan where the carbon filter is on, actually blows out! isnt it supposed to suck the air in through this side?

or does the air flow change?

also is the venting supposed to go on the other end?

Just turn the fan around. It's not complicated. Many people have duct between their filter and fan also.

Yes the air should be sucked into the prefilter, into the carbon, and exhausted out from the fan. Connect some ducting to the exhaust and guide the scrubbed air out of your area.

Go to hardware store. Get a duct extension in the proper diameter. It will have one reduced end.
Or you can be ghetto like me, and just snip the fucking shit a few rivets in, with some tin snips, flare it out, and secure gaps with high strength duct tape. Same deal.

but if i turn it around then the fan will be blowing IN to the grow tent and the filter will be filtering outside air , so it wont be doing anything really

bear in mind this is my first time , and from the information i had been given i went with that

im stil confused on this matter , it has not been explained properly

is this what you are saying

on the side of the fan which sucks in attach a duct vent that goes INTO the tent, on the opposite side where air leaves the fan and where the carbon filter is attached(as in the photo) i have that part protruding OUTSIDE the tent so that as air is being sucked in by the internal duct it is being blown out the fan through the carbon filter?

like in this video:

method 2 starting from 0:55

If you want to use the filter like "method 2" you are set. They explained that "method 2" is for smaller tents that you can't hang the filter inside. Method 2 involved pushing air out through the filter.

It is more efficient to pull air through the filter. If you can hang your filter in the tent go filter -> duct -> Fan. With the arrows being direction of air flow. This would require you to turn the the fan end-for-end.

Does that help?
