My roommate started 2 plants with some free seeds he got. They were fem seeds from attitude seeds. They sprouted in a day and were in the ground.

Lights:

2 shop lights (2 40 watt 6500k bulbs in each)
6 26 watt 6500k cfl's
1 24 watt grow light from walmart (free)

Space:
2x4x6 foot closet
2 fans
Temp is around 80 all the time drops a few degrees at night

Medium:
Miracle Grow potting soil
12 in walmart pots

Will he need bigger pots?
Is it ok to change soils mid grow?

Right now they are 3 weeks into veg. Spring break starts this week so they will be alone for a week. How far should the lights be moved up?

Let me know what you think any advice is appreciated.

Flowering plans:
He's planning on flowering when spring break is over mar 15
He has 2 42 watt 2700 cfl's along with the 26 watt bulbs and 40 watt 3000k tubes. Is that enough light?

Training:
He hasn't attempted any yet. Not sure where to start at with it and what method would be best. How big will these get by the end of flowering?

Nutes:
When should he start using them?

keep the lights as close as possible but a week id a long time:( get those aqua globe things they will keep the plants alive cvs has them) i would put an inch per day of space between the plants and the light so 7 inches away from tallest plant to be safe . deff dont just drown them they will dry up in a week.you can put plastic wrap on top of the soil to slow evaporation that might get you through with a good watering and maybe a plate full of water underneath?? i know the aqua globes work i guy on here used them for ten days!

He already have the aqua globes. Water should not be a problem. He said he might cut his break short. How much height do you think they will get. The NL plant is shorter (the grey pot)

the most i ever heard was 1" per day so 7" max to be safe! i keep my bulbs very close to mu plants almost touching i even get some burn spots near the top but its ok i burnt a bud once and it came back big and thick! during vegg i moved my lights every day just to keep the plants at the perfect distance to avoid streching plus when you get more than 2-3"s away from small cfls you lose a ton of power keep em close when you can!

Is it a northernlights durbin cross or 2 different seeds? Just curious as they dont look like durbin at all but way more indica as to the durbin which is a sativa. The African durbin pure strain free seeds that are always give aways were from old seed stock to unstable genetics that take forever and yield porrly so they gave them away. Been few posts here about that or google african durbin free seeds and you can read. But these look way more NL in appearence. Look good

it is one of each and the shorter one is the nothern lights I am pretty sure. They were single seeds from attitude.

Winkdogg....you can tell early on an idica from a sativa they look quit different right away I have grow the Durban before and it has a very sativa look thats why I asked as from every time I grew it and have seen it it didnt ever have the fat stout leaves. Its a very lanky thin leaved sativa plant. Now any pure indica or heavy indica shows almost from week one its character leaf shape and dense growth. Now exact strain pheno traits will show as the plant matures but you can tell sativa from indica right away unless its a hybrid

Most strains now adays that i see are hybrid so early signs can be deceiving so personally dont trust till they get a bit older :) good to know though1

Well everything is great they grew about six inches and bushed out quite a bit. He trimmed some fan leaves today and started on the nutes.

He used miracle grow nutes for now. Quarter strength its 20-8-16 switching to his buddies fox farm nutes once he gets them over here. How often should he feed them? What is the ideal numbers for the nutes?
