Hi all and thanks to everyone who is so thorough on this site!
I am helping a friend and thought I would show off my Res that we built.
Hope you all like it and any suggestions would be really appreciated
We have invested alot of time and $$ into making sure we get this right!

Thanks again in advance....cause I know I will have more questions!!

Sorry for all the disorganized posts!! this is the first time I have ever posted anything before!
OK attached I have put a couple of pics of the light set up my buddie is using in his cabinet. The top is covered in a high reflective galvanized sheet metal..reflector, I think the same kind used for duct work.

He is having a bit of problems with the heat and I am wondering if putting a hole in the reflector/canopy and putting a pc fan exausting through the deflector so heat cannot get trapped might help?

Anyway we plan on changing out the exaust of the cabinet soon to something around the 500cfm range.
I am going to try and post the most relative pics...I have to go get some more tonight.
If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them good or bad

Happy 420!
This pic is the best to see what I'm Talking about.

Okay guys,

I think we are on day 35 and we istalled 2 PCU fans to the Canopy Lid to remove Trapped heat from underneath. So far it seems to be doing exactly what we want it too.(Of Coarse I didn't take any Pics!) I will take some more later so everyone can see. I have a couple of new pics for everyone. Crystal is doing amazing while Candi is starting to improve. We had to chop Joy because her stem was broke almost completely. We have tried to use the cloning method to save her...we will see how that goes.
Ok so My comp. or this new site is giving me grief.
I will try and get the pics up tonight
Please remember that these seedlings have had some harsh environmental conditions recently to adjust to. I am hoping once we are close to dialed in, this system to be closer to the expected 90 to 100 day turn around.
We want to start to flower very soon.
thanks and any comments would be great!

Well I finally got some pics for everyone, including of the PC Fan mod we put on the reflector.
The fans are doing exactly what they were put in to do...remove any trapped heat in the canopy.
We have finally got complete environmental control of this Cabinet grow as long as the Temp doesn't get too hot outside.
The Ice Probe is working beautifully! Keeps the res a perfect 19 degrees C almost constantly. We did observe the res temp increase when our Cabinet temp got to 35 degrees C!! But still the res was only 21 degrees C...So the investment is surely worth it!

One of the Plants(Joy) did not make it... she died from transplant with a broken stem. We tried to clone her and she never took.
We took 2 clones from "Crystal" and 1 from "Candi" to keep the perpetual thing going. We put them into rockwool and into the Aerogarden under domes.
In 2 more weeks we will hopefully have roots on the clones and will then put Crystal and Candi to flower for roughly 60 days.

We plan on doing some LST on the lower sections of the plants in order to get more Light Penetration to potential bud sites.
Anyway...It would be nice to have at least a comment or 2!! LOL

Hope you enjoy

P.S. Does anyone know if drastic temperature changes can force a plant to sex without changing the light schedule? Crystal has shown female organs but the light schedule never changed. Of course he did plant some old bagseed, so the strain is a mystery.

A) I'm stoked to see a fellow Ice Probe user on RIU, I feel like it is one of the most underutilized inventions out there! It keeps my insulated tub down to 17c in 82f conditions. Good choice!
B) Yes, drastic temp changes could theoretically cause a plant to start sexing early. Basically, any sort of extreme stress can cause plants to become hermies, and this could have possibly happened to you. However, it is possible something else is at play, so examine your set up closely to see if there could be some other unobserved variable that is causing this. Keep up the good work!

Ya, the probe is awesome!! constant res temp is keeping the girls happy.

I REALLY hope Crystal is not a hermie! My bro will have to start from seed again, and that would suck.

We'll keep an eye out for something else that may have caused this, we have tweaked so much already though we could have already changed the variable.

Thanks for the input, it's very much appreciated.

Oh and +rep for being a fellow Prober ;)

Interesting grow. Thinking of starting something very similar with a fish tank and old dresser I'm using for a soil grow at the moment.

Any advice on res. desgin and control techniques. Keep in mind I'm a very simple grower. More of a hobby then a investment.

So any advice on creating a res that could suit my needs??
It's a small grow and a small res., but my question is about the simple things.

Ok Guys its almost GO time!!
Just an update...These 2 are almost 7 weeks old(from seed) now and we are going to change the res, tie some more of the branches down, and throw them into 12/12 on Sunday.

I can not Believe how much these 2 plants have grown in the last 2 weeks.
We have had to trim up Crystal abit in order to let some light penetrate the inside.

We finally got our cloning area set up underneath. (The AG works great for this)

Hope you enjoy the pics!

P.S. Sorry D.Tea, this is my bro's first grow and we are figuring things out as we go. But everything we have learned has come from this site, and there are many more people on here that could help you out better than us, sorry.

Heh, we are not sure what strain either one is. They are both bagseed and 2 different strains if you look closely. We are thinking that Crystal is a Kush variety, her fan leaves are very kush-like but that is about as much as we have deduced.

So , let's issue a friendly challenge... Who thinks they can tell what type of strains these 2 ladies are? (and they are both ladies from what we can see) It's not like we could even nail down the strain for sure, but we love to hear peoples opinions.

My bro and I haven't gotten very far with it, but maybe some of you more experienced growers could help us out?

But we believe the weed-gods are with us on this one, 'cause out of three seeds (one of which died early from stem breakage), we have 2 females. HOLY CRAP do we ever feel lucky. :D

Ok guys we did a couple more modifications to our Ladies. We took the 4 inch exhaust out of the top and replaced it with a 8 inch 500 CFM fan!! This means that the entire air from the cabinet will be changed out 20 times per minute!! WOW!!
They went on a 12 on 12 off cycle starting at 8 pm last night!

The ladies are doing REALLY well and we are running out of room!!
We have both of them tied down pretty good and they seem to love it!!

Enjoy!

Ok guys heres the most recent update... GO HABS!! GO BLACKHAWKS!!

So we changed the res today and refilled with 1/4 Grow big solution and full solution of Big Bloom.

We trimmed a ton of fan leaves out of both plants to let more light into the core.

We tied alot more of both plants down with fuzzy pipe cleaners.

The clones ended up being put into dirt to create a mother for each strain.

The temps outside are beginning to get high... so far so good on the cabinet temp. It hasn't got to 30 degrees C yet!! Hopefully never!!

Enjoy!!

Alright this is the best the plants have ever reacted to a res change!!
After we gave them a haircut and fresh food....They are standing tall reaching for the lights, happy as can be!
We have them tied down with pipe cleaners pretty good now, and can really start to see the Pistols forming!
Outside yesterday was +29C and the inside of our cab only went to 30!! We are very happy about that!
They drank about 2.5 liters of water in the last 48 hours so we know they are loving it!! And its warm inside!
Res is staying at a constant 19 C and they are on straight flower nutes with a 25% shot of Grow nutes just to keep em nice and green!
Enjoy!

Well I couldn't use the real camera today but I did get a couple of pics of the ladies. Today we made a trip to the store and picked up some Advanced Nutrients Bud Ignitor! This stuff came highly recommended! Hope it does what it sais!! We added it to the res and changed our air pump to a beastie one made for a 100 gallon tank!! PH was 5.6 and all temps were awesome!!

Any one got anything to say at all?? Lots of views....just no comments:))

Cheers!!
We will be changing the res on the 30th and I will get some good pics with the camera!

Hi Cab,
Yea, grows lookin good, I gotta look into the ice probe thing. This nano chiller I bought is not going to cut it this summer.
One thing you can do to lower temps is to run your lights at night. I run mine from 8pm to 8am it keeps the cab about 10° cooler

When the girls get to about week 5 of flower keep an eye on the humidity for the rest of the grow. You don't want moldy buds.
