dwc medium question

all i had for a medium to start with was soil, but now that the roots have been established iv washed all the soil out of the roots and am using foam plugs around the stem. i was just woundering if i should completely submurge the roots or should i leave some of fthe out of the water???

My answer: No, don't completely submerge your roots. Yes, leave some of the roots out of the water.

Once the root system is mature and established, I keep the water level 3-6 inches below the bottom of my netpots.

Ive had the pots above and submerged, if you keep the water quality up. Like proper amounts of nutes plenty of oxygen and cool res temps you can sumerge the roots one or two inches depending on the size of the net pot your using.
My current DWC system has the net pods under the water level about an inch. If you look at my roots they are about 2 feet long and pure white and healthy.
This time of year I do use hygrozme because its more difficult to keep the temps in the res under 70.
If your new too DWC there is going to be a certain amount of experimentation till you get it down.
I would go lite on the nutes till you get a feel for maintaining the ph ect.

I agree with johnny5, keep your water taken care of and you'll be fine. I keep my water up a little past the net pots and let the water drop about 1"-1.5".
