Need to know from experianced dwc growers.i have searched for these answers cant find them.. how big of an air pump for an 18 gallon three plant container?... how far do you fill the container up with the water/nute solution? should the bottom of the net pots touch or be submerged in the begining?what supports a four foot plant suspended in a netpot with hydroton? especially when you have to lift the lid to change the nutes?

in my experience ... the water should be under the net pots.. maybe an inch to start. for the pump.. do you have airstones already?? what are the demensions of the res?? I would use a big dual pump. what sizes are you looking at.

thanks for the reply... i found that you do needa small space between the water and net pot. i have an 18 gallon rubbermaid painted with krylon black plastic paint 4 inch net pots with neoprem inserts,a large walmart dual outlet airpump with two 14 inch airstones and one tetra 20 gallon pump with one 14 inch airstone. botanicare pure blend pro.and three 10 inch super silver haze clones here we grow... have been using a floodand drain table .. this is just a trail thing cause with the flood table it is hard to grow strains with different flowering times ,at the same time .. because of the two week flush.. and some of my moms flower at 12 weeks ,some at 8, some never.14 +.

Iam not an expert but I will reply :)
10/gal air per 1/gal H2O

For your 18/gal res you should have a 200/gal pump. But the must important thing is to keep the res at 65f to keep the Oxygen disolved in the water. I have yet to find out how to balance a 4 foot plant but you can stay posted if you check out my journal.

Yeah,
I always like to submerge my netpots in the begining, and I have gone all the way through finish with them submerged and no problems, when I tried to have the water lower then the pot in the beggining I usually get signs of wilting
