Chill homie. You asked me 3 questions and I gave ya 3 answer. They were half ass, you're right.

Yes I use molasses or brown sugar. I use tap water that has been uncovered and bubbled for 24hr and I make 1gal at a time. You did tell me to make 2gal at a time as it won't work with 1gal but I have yet to get an answer as to how that makes sense. Thanks for all the help brother! \m/

Just a stoner guess, but the bennies place a large demand on your DO and at 1 gallon of water there isn't enough DO. I know you are going to say start with less bennies = less need for DO, which sounds nice, but I don't think that's how it works. In either case, if you just want to use 1 gallon of water and it works for you, go ahead; I don't think anyone will care.

I am in the UK and have been searching for a supplier in Europe for these bennies ,I found one on ebay with free shipping looks like the same as Caps and the guy says they are from the same lab as supplies Caps , he seem to know his stuff & promised a full refund if i was not happy with his bennies I am going to order one of each

here is his link before anyone asks http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=181139256584

Peace

You dont follow directions yet expect people to give you answers. How is anyone going to know the ppm of your tap? Therefore how could they know what ur finished ppm should be? You cant be bothered to get the right water, use the right amount, or research for yourself about microbe culturing but you want perfect answers. Your not a baby so man up and stop asking to be spoonfed. There are people with issues that can follow directions and need help.

Thanks for your input, I think. So The directions I am following I thought were clear; "The recipe is really simple. Start with non-chlorinated water. I make 2 gallons at a time, but you can easily adjust the additives for whatever amount you wish to make."

Ok, so, so far I have; Used de-clored water and adjusted the amount of additives for whatever amount I wish. I have also used molasses as directed. I am using EWC, Orca and molasses. All within the same lines as was listed in post one(I believe). I am unclear as to why you would say I have done no research, I thought thats what I was doing.

Asking questions like please explain how using 1 gallon instead of 2 makes a difference is not research, reading scientific papers is. Also the directions say chlorine free water, tap is not chlorine free it has it or chloramine which does the same thing which is kill microbes Maybe im harsh but if you dont follow directions exactly then you need to know exactly what ur doing as your growing bacteria to intentionally infect your plants roots

Especially since I did make a stab at explaining it.....not enough dissolved O2 to support a biota bloom. That was only a few posts back. I bumped the entire instructions a few pages back.

Tap water???? Do your research, the other folks. Yes. Only peer reviewed papers can give you actual research results that are scienctific. OTH, we can and should practice scientific method of thought. It is very simple in it's vast complexity.

No Assumptions.

We cannot assume we understand ourselves even. That is science.

Now, in the realm of common courtesy.....No assumptions.

Dare I say, also, when communicating in general.....no assumptions. :)

As stated, agreed. There isn't enough DO.
Heisenberg states: "You want the water to be almost turbulent from the air bubbles".

The way I know that I have enough DO during the process is after a few hours into my brew... I HAVE THE FROTHY BUBBLE GOODNESS!(TradeMark :-P ).
If the frothy bubble goodness is not there after a few hours, then I start over from scratch.

Just my two-cents bongsmilie

Oh good. When I make it the water is boiling and foam forms in less then 24 hrs. So I guess it's OK.

Is the ancient forest a necessity? Or could I just run a Aquashield/ZHO solution and feed em w/ molasses? Summer temps are warming up the res'

Most likely you would be fine with just that for prevention. The ancient forest really brings the diversity needed if you have slime or are super prone to always having slime bloom.

Technically, yes. It is really the key, I think. There are other substitutions for fungi and even what is in AquaShield. But, Mr. H has always stressed we are building a balanced Consortium (technical term) of critters. They fill the eco-nitches and deny the scum.

So, to me the logic says without AF, we leave a door open for the Brown out.

OTH, for my rooting in station. 40 liters. I just use AqShld and Great White. But, when I introduce them to the circulating pond I will brew up with AF and innoculate. I won't run a gal a week.

That is for when I clawed back from doom at 3 weeks. Ready to harvest, all 12 lived, next week, thanks to a complete consortium to replace brown scum infection in the roots.
