Can management look at employees e-mails whenever they feel like it?

Our manager now has access to do this, was just wondering if there was any kind of Data Protection laws or if it is just fine?

Only if he has the password.

Depends on what type of e-mail it is. We has it writen in to our IT policy that any thing on the company computer is company property. I doesn't matter if it family photos.
