earliest time to sex and revert plants for SCROGging?

i want to do a SCROG grow from seeds, and need to know what the earliest time i can safely flip plants for sexing before putting them under my screens is, especially as i want to use several males that i'll need to seal off with paper bags to keep from pollinating everything.

sexing and scrogging kind of get in each other's way. i've never reverted a plant yet, and sexing in the screen is not an option as i'd lose half of my surface areal pulling all of the males.

i'm nottoo enthused eitherthat i'll lose almost an entire month on flipping and reverting the strains, probably more with 12 week haze skunk as i think that one takes it's time to sex. i might have to sex that one at the edges of my screens.

any info or tips on how to successfully combine sexing from seed in a SCROG is appreciated.

start them on 12 from the get go. as soon as you know for sure flip em

really? it won't stunt the plants or anything? cool! time to get the timer out then and break out another shoplight for 24/7. i made the mistake of destroying my nodes on some 8 miles highs i wanted to clone and was worried that once you flip a plany, the buds in your nodes would preclude you getting vegetative growth out of them. i'm sooooooo far behind schedule here! i was supposed to be harvesting last month not just starting this one.

it will stall out a little bit when it reverts to veg but you`ll be alright. i have 3 clones i took 1/2 way through flower, once they took they really took off.

i think i'll just go to an 11 hour cycle to try to force flowering even faster. DJ shorts recommends something between 11 & 12 hours, but is keeping the exact ratio a secret. especially for sativa dominants, i could see it really helping. the highland thais i tried to bud that were a male and a hermie took at least 3 months and as many transplants to just sex and if memory serves me right, haze x skunk takes it's time flipping too, but should be reasonably easy to bend in later if i top it twice like last time.

i get a little anxious sailing into uncharted waters. i don't like surprises like a clone is useless if it's nodes are all used up and cloning too early will stunt a plant to the point it won't take. besides reverting plants, this will be the first time i SCROG too.

just a little bit, i envy those who have enough space to maintain clone rooms or even closets. it makes things a lot easier having a veggie room and a flowering one.

i just had a laugh last night... my slowest flowering strain is actually an INDICA! buddha's sister takes 14 weeks vs 12 weeks for hazes skunk, my next slowest strain and malawi only takes 10 weeks.

yeah i think that is really the best way when your limited. there isnt any sense in veg'n out ALL of them, and doing all that work for every plant, and then throwing half of them out.

i watched a buddy sex his plants earlier this year. he would have been better off doing 12/12 from seed to see what they were. if its gonna turn hermie over just being started at 12/12 it would probably turn hermie anyways at the very end, or with the least little bit of stress.

with just a quick thought it seems as tho you can make up the time u would take veg'n all of them together, and use it to select keepers. then use those in the scrog.

its kinda hard to do scrog w/o fem seeds or clones. you should do a search for scrog from reg seeds.

btw i feel for ya about having the extra room for clones and the such. it sux not having a nice extra veg area.

don`t over think it dude. 12 is fine 11 wont do nothin for ya. can you stick a few cfl`s in a closet or something? if you can just take a couple cuts off each plant and clone em on 12hrs. a couple weeks and you know what you have and wont have to lose time reveggin

i always make sure i use female seeds/clones before i start a scrog. i like to train them as soon as there 3 nodes. i tie them right over and get loads of arms hitting the net by week 2-3 veg and a week og training under the net then 12/12. i still train about a week into 12/12 but i find branches get to stiff after that.look at my scrog in my threads. youll notice hooks at the bottom what i use to tie the plant down at the beginning.

CFLs in my closet was the plan.i just need to buy a couple cheap dome lights, or maybe a 24" tube. i have 3 shoplights, but none of them will fit in my little closet, so i just have to find a lighting solution. if it weren't such a hassle, i'd build a mini tent, but light leaks are always a bitch no matter what you're trying to do.

yes, growing regs & SCROGging too is doing things the hard way, but that's the only way many of my favorites are available. sexing isn't really that much of a hassle, i was just worried that doing it too early could have unforeseen consequences that apparently don't exist. it's all good. i only have about half a dozen plants that need sexing as a lot of what i want to use like sweet haze, NL5 columbian & buddha's sister is already femmed.

i was just worrying too much about this aspect and can just go for it with the sexing. i can make it work for sure. i just need to find some cheap light fixtures.

once, i had a shot at the "ultimate grow room" in an apartment i was going to room with some chick. the "attic" was a small freakin' warehouse! i'm talking 100 x 100 & 20 foot plus tall easy! i just didn't care for her insisting i pay an extra $50 a month so she could buy a rent to own washing machine when laundry costs 1/5th that. she also figured out what i was thinking of, and wanted a cut of that too... trouble waiting to happen with that one, but i loved all that wide open space. oh well
