Early Sexing Methods

I'm looking at methods to force a display of pre-flowers. These plants are from seed. I have two options I'm considering:

#1 Top the plant at three weeks and put the cutting through a 12/12 cycle to get it to show flowers. That seems handy, and I'd guess would take up to five days to show flowers.

#2 Cover a branch or even the top of the plant in black fabric and wait several days.

I don't want to subject the whole plant to 12/12, then revert back to 24/0

Any thoughts or links would be appreciated. :leaf::leaf:

Thanks, D. Looking for the fastest method. I'm starting in 1 gallon pots and would like to only transplant females that I'm pretty sure about. Same as everyone else, I suppose. I hate to wait for 5 weeks to find out, but maybe that's all I can do.

My man trust me it is the easiest way for me and once you get it you will be able to tell earlier. Every blue moon you will get a few that you really have to wait long on I got a couple of four foot plants and I still cant tell. I sexed alot of seedling this year all other males are dead. keepem green dirrtyd

I'm thinking of trying method #2. Simple to do if you leave the black fabric on for a week (24/0 dark). Can't hurt. I'm going to top in any event so no harm. I'll learn something.

is there an article or anything with pics on how to do this? or can someone explain? im new around here and doing one of my first legitimate runs. I used bag seeds to practice with ive got 8 going to plan for the worst. anyways i asked the same question if there was a way to sex a plant before flowering or any certain patterns to look for and apparently no one on the site had enough time to help a fellow patient and grower so maybe you could explain more? would be greatly appreciated

When you look at the node. You will see stipules. Behind the stipules there will be growth. Take a picture there and I will let you know Male or female. keepem green dirrtyd
