I just looked closely at my roots, and no shit, root rot! I knew my res temps were cazy so I was asking for trouble. I have been putting 2 gallons of frozen ice jugs in the res every 2-3 hours, that is not possible after today. I have a mini fridge I think I will make a chiller... Until then Can I treat this before it spreads?. I cleaned and changed my res a few hours ago.

i got the rot in my rez too on my last grow and didnt realize it till about 24-48 hours after it started and by that time it was too late. i tried h2o2 which seemed to stop the spread of it but the plant never came back from it so i ended up having to flush and harvest way early:evil: im not sure of any treatments that will reverse it though.

I have been working with these plants since I saw the signs of rot. I think I caught them just in time, but we will see over the next few days for sure. My plants only had a few slimy roots and they were cut off immediately, the roots were also turning brown in several areas. What I did was......

Immediately upon noticing the root rot I pulled the plants and started them in H2O2 3% straight, no diluting, for three hours while I disinfected the resivoir and lines, etc... All the Bubblicious started to curl under The rot was noticed on Saturday Evening and the Hydro Shop was closed til Monday otherwise I would have started them Grotek's Super Oxy 35% H202 diluted to about 2-4% the day I noticed it. Sunday the rot was not noticabely improving so I ran them thru another cycle of H202 3% I left the res alone, but I made sure temps were between 60-65 ( I know it is a little low, but I want it to be to help kill off the bacteria. Monday half of the brown roots were looking better (yellow instead of brown). On Monday, I hit them with Grotek Super Oxy diluted to about 2%...This stuff is no joke, it is the shit compared to regular H2O2!!! I can't stress that enough, If the store bought is 3% (which I doubt it really is), then this stuff is 300%. On Teusday, the rooots still have a few spots of brown, but the roots that were yellow are now pure blonde, but the resevoir smelled musty as hell so I disinfected everything with Grotek Super Oxy again. I soaked the plants in a 5% solution for 2.5 hours while I disinfected, this time I did it all. After 2.5 hours in the solution the plants were starting to curl down and under. Now, 99.9% of the roots are blonde but the plants are in shock from the treatment. I have them in an aerotub with a homemade chiller I just made out of a dorm room fridge. I had the fridge so the chiller only cost $30 to make and it cools the res down 8 degrees on average. I need to hook the power for the fridge up to a thermostat in side of the res so it goes on when it goes above 68. I also need to keep pumping the res water thru the lines in the fridge so it doesn't freeze. I really hope this saves someones plant like it did mine. One of my friends has the rot going in 2 plants,. we are trying stronger solutions since mine lived at much higher strengths than reccommended... I will let u know the outcome.

My plant aren't gonna make it. The ro keeps coming back. It's living in the rockwool now. I just pulled the worst one apart and it was so bad I pulled the rest apart and they are all fucked! Every single one. The rot looked like it was gone from the roots, but the roots were just falling apart like silly string, and the main roots were already shrivled 17 plants I lost on this grow, and my first grow was both males! I'm taking a long break from this shit! Looks like I'm stuck buying weed for a long time. I thought growing would be cheaper but I was wrong! I just don't have a green thumb!

WOW.. I am so sorry for you Pasadenabri. I really thought you had done a great job when I read a few post back. Did you use Seniszyme, or Hygrozyme or some like product? (Knock on Wood).. I have not had root roit yet. But I always use one of the Zyme products. That shit sounds nasty as hell. Could it be you are flooding your system to often? I only flood mine once a day, and then twice a day I flood it just enough to cover maybe 1/4 inch of the rockwool blocks. I also have a 1 1/2 INCH thick COCO matt that the rockwool sits on. This allows my root system to spread all over the place between the coco matt and the tray. There has to be a reason you are all getting this root rot. Maybe I am just one of the lucky ones.
