I guess it depends on what you mean by a premade mix, but you could probably start with:

- 75% organic "potting mix" (like Fox farms, Coast of Maine, etc)
- 25% compost or worm castings
- A few cups of Garden-Tone

And do just fine.

Check the feed stores. You may have to buy bulk or split it with a couple of growmies, but you'll get by far the best bang for your buck there. Search of here for "coots mix" or find the BAS mix, and get what you can locally. Make your own compost or EWC. Grow some comfrey for teas. Look up KNF.... Bro, the cannabis world is super DIY friendly. I know what it's like to grow organic dank on a tight budget. I learned it all on here. Keep reading, Padawon.

ya coast of maine is amazing but I feel like I’m riding with training wheels using it and its somehow equivalent to “being on the bottles” / “being in the bags”. I feel more accomplished crafting a soiless mix from scratch.

Understandable. You could use peat and perlite instead, that's pretty much all that's in the CoM, they just add a little chicken manure, kelp, and lobster shell for fertility. Or promix hp if you want to avoid buying two different bags. Or use old/spent soil from prior grows and replenish it with more compost and dry amendments.

Same with the Garden-Tone I mentioned. It has 7 ingredients, but you can always buy the individual amendments separately. As mentioned above Coots mix is probably a good place to start, it's only got 6 or 7 ingredients, as well.

I'm also a SIP grower, I use the growbox which is very similar to the earthbox. Definitely the most fool-proof way to grow organically...
