ebb and flow double bucket question

Hi guys thinking about changing my setup to a double bucket system but have a question i hope someone on here can answer. How many gallon res do i need for a 32 5 gallon double bucket system? I am running 8 lights with 4 plants per light. I just dont know how big of a reservoir would i need. Also any buddy running an sensi bloom 2 part in ebb and flow? If so what are your thoughts?

Yes i am i a legal med grower and got bord with soil loved double buckets but was a small setup when i did it. My thought is 32 5 gallon buckets is 160 gallons divided by 2 for clay and root mass which is 80 gallons or 2 55 gallon drums. That make sense to anybody else?

That is a lot of water But yea 2 55 gals seems about right. With the buckets full of hydroton will only require no more than 3 gallons each+ the controller bucket+ extra water for your plants usage over time. If ur using clones tho and planning on vegging for only a few weeks, I would say 2 or 3 gallons buckets would b more than enough and would only require one 55 gal drum. I would recommend reading th "For all cap ebb and gro users" thread of look up titan flo and grow. Hellraizers thread has alot of info too on a system like this

Im trying to get a 4 foot plant something i can get 3 lbs or better a light so prob need the 5 gallon pails. But i will def look that stuff up!!

Ive seen on this thread of people growing up tp 5 ft plants with no issues as far as the roots

get a pond liner incase your control buckets fail n flood the whole room. Thats a lot of water

I run an ebb and grow, with 24 buckets. I keep my res at 40 gallons, and it's plenty. I do use the smaller buckets though, never had a need for the big ones. It's always best to have more water than needed to fill to help with keeping ph and ppm's more stabil, just a bitch to deal with that much water.

If you're using drums, I would suggest using a 2" pipe system that has a 90 and a bigger sewer type top and screw in cap, so you can connect a hose the same size as the one leading to the controller bucket, and run that hose into the drain that goes outside for changing out the water. It saves a lot of work. I use a bigger top with screw in piece so I can place a big funnel in it to pour out buckets of water from cleaning, and whatever else. This will save you a shitload of work.

for my ebb & flow system I have 3 - 55 gallon containers. I use one to store "waste-water" from my ro system for use around the outdoors garden. I use a second to store my usable ro water since it takes about 8 - 10 hrs to fill. And my third I use as a reservoir for my grow system. I have one extra pump than my ebb & flow system needs and is rated at 250gal per hour. All of my 55 gallon containers have a 3/4" spigot on them at the very bottom to which I attach 3/4" tubes. I use the same tube on my reservoir to both empty it with the pump and then refill it with clean water by moving the pump to my other reservoir and turning it on. This allows me to not have to move anything except a pump to empty or refill my reservoir. I can tell you this has made it so much easier to do the water changes.
