took off a lower bud from that big cola. i've smoked all the runt already :weed:.

pic attached.

gypsy, i read that post. many thanks. i think my 9 weekers may need 12 or more :fire:.

it'll be worth the weight tho. (hehe spot the pun)

bought another submersible air pump for the rez, some more pk13/14, another water pump to use for draining and refilling the rez and a sunmaster dual spec bulb to replace my grolux.

currently i am filling the rez daily with 10l max nutes.

hopefully not just me bongsmilie.

i am thinking tho i'll need to go longer than 10weeks on the first batch. there are no signs of the hairs going brown.

might have to stump up for a microscope.
I like your system and will be watching. When, how much and what kind? on your o2h2 use? I have bought several used microscopes on ebay and they are amazing for trich inspection. I feel like I am in a forest of giant mushrooms and can see clear, cloudy and amber ones often together in the same field of view.

Search ebay for vintage microscopes and used microscopes. The best deals are on small ones from the 50s and 60s that were used in high schools and colleges. Look for Bausch and Lomb and Tasco. Always ask if they work and stay away from any that need anything. I got my last Tasco for $15 and it is very sweet!

cheers pal. i'm not the best person to ask on h2o2 use. i've got some stuff called pythoff which i used for a small time on my last grow but fixing the cause and not the symptoms worked better. this grow i have not used any other than for sterilising stuff.

just done some pruning of lower fan leaves. first two pics are of the 6 weekers at the back. i have high hopes for these girls. last pic shows the how big 5 of last 9 to go in have got. i had to move 1 of them it was about 2 inches from the bulb. others will need moving soon i reckon. not easy when their roots are buried deep in the inch of medium under the pots. lesson learnt - don't have flood cycles last more than 10 mins. i went up to half an hour every cycle for two days. i cycle every two hours btw.

wait...you have something under the pots?
aye. don't you? i reckoned the roots would outgrow the 4 inch pots so i used a bed of medium for them to grow under rather than be exposed to light. it also helps soak up the solution that doesn't drain away. don't want it sitting there festering away.

I do not for the exact reason that I do not want my roots to escape the pots...

I want my plants mobile 100% of the time... that is one of the great benefits of ebb/flow in pots..... being able to move the plants without worrying about roots..

It's especially important in a perpetual op...

You don't want root bits left over to decay in the medium when you take a plant or 2 down..;-)

maybe i should add some h2o2 then hehe. moving them around was never part of my plan. as for when the chop comes all medium in the vicinity gets removed and new stuff goes in. also if you do the moving carefully when its flooded it's alot easier. i hear what your saying though.

i don't think it's possible to not get the roots expanding out of a 4" pot with a huge cola on the end of it.

If your tray drained properly, the roots would get "air pruned"... and it would not be an issue...

But I hear you...

Puddles on the tray was the reason I ditched my DIY and bought some BOTANICARE trays...

Since you are not doing a perpetual.. and you are going to change the medium... It's not as bad...

I just like being able to move them around... get the runts in better light or whatever...

...

Mate, you are getting excellent results with what you are doing...

Don't let THESE worms get to you...

YOU ARE DOING AN AWESOME JOB...

I do not recommend you change a thing...

I was just surprised to hear that...

no worries bro, worms are negated by ones own confidence. i am doing an awesome job. but always learning in the process.

changing anything now would probably be fatal. that was a lesson learned not so long ago. ;)

yeah little tweaks here and there. trouble is they can have big consequences. i think i'm at about max height ish on the tall ones. even though they got bigger than hoped, they are looking good. many bud sites well on their way.

quick question about the 3 i've got at 10 weeks tomorrow...

if i chop off lower buds for some well needed smoke, is that going to make the rest of the buds take longer. i'm not taking any more off but wondered if my previous chops have caused them not to mature as quickly as they would have.

What do you mean?

I personally haven't noticed a difference in taking lower buds from a plant...

I have done that to just about every new strain I get.... take a little taster bud...

Never noticed anything negative...
