I was wondering if there was a way to use EC-PH measurements in conjunction in a soil grow to prevent over fert problems?

I test the ph of the water that collects in the catch tray after watering.

Well, to be more precise, you want to check the final runoff...not just 'whats in the tray'.

If you're catching it in a tray, remove the bulk of it and just test the last bit that dribbles out. That will give you a somewhat more accurate ph reading of your soil.

I read that you can make a slurry of soil and water and test with an EC meter.
