damn it guys I was just playin a joke on you guys and was gonna suprise you with a bunch of eye candy but ive ran into a problem I just cant find a direct answer for. well 7 of my jars I thought were ready to spawn I put in the fridge and went to shake one today when it was done shaking it looked as though mycelium had just covereed the outside and hasnt yet grown throught the middle? are they ready to spawn to compost now since mycelium covered the entire outside until it was shaken?

They always look like they lost most of the mycelium growth after you shake it. Give it a few more days and it will recolonize everything much faster than before.

I mean there was mycelium covering the all visible grain but when I shook up it was not covering the inside and it isnt white anymroe just some white specs everywhere are these ready to spawn or should I wait for it to cover over again?

lmao ok so there not ready yet? lol this reminds me of a movie I forgot what it is though:lol: ok so when mycelium growth takes over the entire visible wbs you shake it and let it recolonize again right?:wall:

probably not. Once it is all colonized, and you are sure of that, then you are good for the next step. Don't let the mycelium bind though, if you do, you will have this hunk of cheese that won't easily separate into individual kernels.

if im sure? obviously im not sure thats why im askin lol ok so when the grain is white through and through it is done, when it is only turned white on the outside viewable surface it still needs to colonize in the middle correct? because ive been reading alot of conflicting info that is very hard for me to understand.:-(

Glad to hear you were just playin us! Keep us updated. My jars are half colonized.. taking forever but it's cool.

well that jar that I had shaken up to find uncolonized grain covered the outside again so I shook it up and its still just the outside? guess just wait longer?

Hey guys, quick question from total nub to this. How much room is required to grow? Could it be done in, say, a college dorm window sill?
