was gifted this from a friend after a rough trip in a trash bag & off to a less than ideal start I'm getting new growth after 4 days under my 250w. Hps it's in coco & a 3 gal. Smart pot will be using gh flora series nutes will add cal-mag tonight training this girl is a must my appoligies for the quality of these I-pad pics but it's all I've got to post pics with right now using a 250-400w Galaxy switchable ballast & homemade e&f tub&res. That are low profile shoe storage totes capable of 10 gallons of nutes using 2 pumps and a fish aquarium air pump 1 pump circulates nutes & the other will flood the tub on a timer set to flood (for now) 1 time a dayimage.jpegimage.jpeg image.jpeg

I'm gonna hold off on bumping up the nutes until I can see some roots advancing out of the rockwool block into the coco judging by the light color of my new growth I'm gonna add some cal- mag as well gonna have to figure a way to improve the quality of my pics as well new room & first grow in a while gotta a lot of work ahead of meimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Today I'm gonna make a few changes she seems hungry I'm mixing full grow schedule & adding cal mag I'll be lowering the light a few inches the first feedings are going to be drain to waste ph@ 5.8-6.0 when the roots are out to the edge of the smart pot I'll get the res. Set up I gave her a weak feeding because I was afraid she might be a finnicky feeder as with a lot of og variants but that don't seem to be the case here I could be wrong but I don't think soimage.jpegimage.jpeg

I've got something possibly off in my ph. Meter and/or old lemon juice as it won't lower my ph. Lower than 6.3 according to my meter my tap water is holding [email protected] my reference solution is old but the meter reads it @ 7.1 which is cool if I could trust it strait lemon juice read 6.3 out of 1 bottle & 6.4 out of another I've been shut down for awhile & have never done a grow here the only solution I see is to go down today ,buy a fresh bottle of ref. Solution & some ph down I've got to have the ability to get these nutes to ph. Lower my ppm. For tap water is054 I liked the lemon juice because I could mix nutes & adjust to about 5.6 ish in about 3 days it would creep up to about 6.0-6.3 then I would top off,re-adjust ph. It worked out good the lemon juice is old as well I guess life wouldn't be normal without a few obstacles I'll get it figured out it would be bad timing to have to buy a new meter that one has been a good one[ I didn't however get the light lowered as the yoyo's are as low as they'll go

I finally have my ph meter dialed in after a year of being stored in awfull conditions it now reads lemon juice @ 2.3 I tested my run- off & it was 4.1 so I flushed my coco & did a fresh batch of nutes , things are looking up I lowered the light things are going well but I've still got to get my lights on temps a we bit higher & I want to get my nutrient intake dialed in & better root development as well before I flip the light to 12/12 & switch to 400w from the 250w. I really like to utilize the stretch period for pruning & training my canopy this is my first time using a tomato cage & im debating adding a screen this is also my first single plant grow I think I'll go back to 4 plant & 2 gal smart pot combo the single plant requires a lot of training I think I'm gonna take a clone although I'm wanting a bodhi strain or something from bog ( sour grapes) this comes highly recommended & if it proves to be "all that" I want to be ready for another grow of it my I pad doesn't have a flash better pics is something I'll be working on in the near futureimage.jpegimage.jpeg

I started a recirculating nute schedule today she is starting to come around the green is getting darker also getting some root development in about a week if all goes well I'm gonna flip the light schedule to 12/12 & a week after that switch over to 400w.image.jpegimage.jpeg

Removed a few leaves today I'm still trying to get my canopy to develop I really wish I had got this plant when it was younger so I could of topped & trained it early in the game but I'll take what I can get I'm just gonna have to veg until I can get the result I want that being said I'm planning on doing a lot of supercropping after the flip my res is now on a timer flooding once a day tomorrow I'll check the ph. Temps are 60'ish+ so my nute level isn't showing much of a drop I'm starting to enjoy my grow now as things are starting to turn around & green up so to speak it will get interesting soon ( I hope!) the weather outdoors is warming up making it easier to control the temperature in my room . image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

My ph. Meter is pretty much done I'm gonna have to get a new one it will calibrate & read water at about 7.0 but it won't reliably give me readings in the 5.0-5.8 range it's just all over the placeimage.jpegmaking it hard to keep things on track so bottom line is I need a new one this one is about 5 years old & hasn't been taken care of like it should of been ill take better care of the next one lesson learned the hard way

Ok help is on the way the new meter has to soak 24 hrs before I can calibrate & use it I'm getting new growth but not as much at the rate I should be betting she also might be a light feeder I just can't address any problems without first getting a correct ph. Reading my leaves are showing slight deformation on a few of them but my main concern is the light color which tells me she is not uptaking all her available nutrients image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

The new ph. tester is a blue lab & will be properly cared for as I don't care to replace it any time soon that money could of been spent elsewhere but let this be a prime example of neglect & money wasted I know the other meter was old but I feel if it had been properly cared for I would be still using itimage.jpegi like the ease of mintenance of this meter it only requires 3-5 drops of storage solution a week the oakton Eco tester was cheaper, easier to calibrate (7.0 ph. Ref solution only) but I guess I'll get used to the new one

Got the ph. Situation straitened out & after sitting down & taking a good look at things I did some lightweight pruning , tied down a few limbs , switched the ballast to 400w. & turned the timer back to 12/12 it's time I'm already making plans for the next grow & possibly getting a waterfarm the next few weeks should give me a lot of stretch which in turn I'll train & do some pruning of the non productive bottom stuff my rate of growth should straiten up as well things should start happening in the next few weeks my lights on temps are 62-67 degrees f. & about48-55% humidity this plant is supposed to give smaller rock-hard buds which in the past I've found prone to get bud rot if you're not carefulimage.jpegimage.jpeg image.jpegimage.jpeg

It's unbelievable how fast things are turning around a little more pruning & tie down here & there as well as the ph. Getting corrected is making a differenceimage.jpeg image.jpegimage.jpeg

I'm (for a change) pleased with this grow I'm soaking a th- seeds mk ultra -X- bubblegum for my next grow & im really contemplating either a waterfarm or going back to 4 plants & 2 gal smart pot combo but I'm really wanting a change of pace for the first time in this grow I'm getting over an inch a day of new growthimage.jpegimage.jpeg image.jpeg

image.jpeg Tomorrow I'm gonna drain the reservoir & mix a fresh batch of nutrients I'm not out of the woods yet but things are looking up the color of my new growth is still not as dark as I would like the ph. Of my tap water is a bit high 7.5 & ppm. Of 0.61 I've been using lemon juice to lower the ph. but if not lowered daily it tends to creep up towards 6.9'ishtTTACH=full]3621790[/ATTACH] this to me is the longest most boring part of the grow as you wait for those first bud nubbins to appear I went to the local hydro shop & checked out a waterfarm which I think is gonna feed my next grow

I put off changing the nutes for a day I'm gonna switch over to transition & lower the cal- mag to 3 m/l - 1 gal. Instead of 5m/l roots are filling my smart potimage.jpegimage.jpeg

I see I double posted some pics I'm still figuring things out & although the ppm of the water is low0.61 the ph is somewhat higher 7.5 evaporation doesn't change either of these factors I can feed @ 5.5 & 12 hrs later the ph in my res has climbed up to over 7 so my old strategy of setting the timer & feeding for 3 days is out the window also I'm using roots organics coco ( I've always used botanicare) it's supposed to be buffered & all that fancy stuff which could also contribute to my problems if you do this long enough sooner or later something is gonna go haywire I'm not getting the stretch I was expecting out of this 8 days after the flip I've grown a few og' they all were stretchers I'm gonna get some ph- down & try it instead of the lemon juice to see if I can't get my nutes to hold a ph. Adjustment longer if not I'm gonna have to look at a different water sourceimage.jpeg

I'm still not altogether happy with the growth of this & now I'm getting weird stuff floating in my reservoir which dries to a chalky film possibly my floralicious is old & fermented or the cal- mag is not working with my nutes anyhow the search is on for a solution ....sooner the better I need to figure this out as I gear up for my next grow another possibility is the buffered coco I'm using is leaching something back into my reservoir when I floodimage.jpegimage.jpeg image.jpeg
