2012 anyone. The reason I'm afraid McCain may win is we need an asshole war president to start armaghedden. If you believe in soothsayers or ancient predictions, 2012 would fit right into a McCain presidency. If McShame wins, All you folk may want to get right with Jesus,~LOL~.

y'all finally figured it out, there is no right choice and there never really was one. most folks i talk to these days agree that government on every level has failed in its stated purpose and cannot be trusted to perform even the simplest task without completely screwing it up. for over two centuries the citizens have been have been turning out to cast their ballots for the lesser of the evils they are offered and it seems they have finally tired of the game. each year the turn out has been smaller and smaller and it hasn't mattered in the least. as soon as they're elected our officials abandon the high ideals of their campaign slogans and sell out to their favorite corporation, religion, ethnic group or other special interest. once in power they begin feathering their own nests and preparing for the next cycle of lies and half-truths that will land them an even better position.

even the most rabid supporters of this experiment in representative democracy are beginning to understand that it is a failure and that the people have lost control. though few will admit that they have planted that first foot firmly on the road to the anarchist point of view, all seem to agree that what's going on now just isn't working. some seem to feel we need a swing toward the totalitarian left, with its socialist dreams of a big brother that will take care of them from cradle to grave. others seem to want to hand over the reins to multi-national conglomerates and massive corporate entities, praying that some of their wealth will trickle down to we mere mortals. most are just scared shitless and they should be.

this massive bureaucratic machine we have spent the last two centuries building is grinding to a halt. its dependence on military might and constant expansion have proven to be its fatal flaw. we may stall its death by giving it a merely superficial face lift, but we seem incapable of the courage necessary for any real change. or maybe it is just a step back that is needed - to the original intent of this country. thirteen states loosely joined by the gossamer tendrils of a federal government and the people actively involved in the decisions that effect their everyday lives.

I think this election will be pretty simple, the Republicans have the white guy, they're a shoe in.

I concur with just about everything you say here. Unfortunately, though, I don't seen anything changing anytime soon. For that to happen the American public would have to get an intelligence. And I don't see that happening anytime soon. Keep in mind, we're talking about the same public that voted for George Bush - not once but twice!

Great post undertheice.

"Keep in mind, we're talking about the same public that voted for George Bush - not once but twice!"

People are pissed and are starting to take action. Most people cannot afford 4 dollars for gas and 5 for diesel. A revolution is coming, its just a matter of time. The American people will not stand for much more and its just a matter of time before we, the people, come together and rid our home with the sellouts we now call our "representatives".

I heard about a place to get bio-diesel for 45 cents a gallon. I thought that would be a great buy for my friend that is having a real tough time with his new business because the price of diesel is sky rocket. I told him about the alternative, but he than reminded me that a commercial diesel vehicle can not run off of anything but a select fuel that now costs ~5 dollars a gallon. He might have to shut down his business because he cannot afford the exorbitant expenses with the price of fuel so high. If he could only run his truck off of bio-diesel he would save thousands of dollars a month and be able to get by.

I thought these people we elect, and call our "representatives" are suppose to be working for us?

i wouldn't necessarily consider it a lack of intelligence. it is more a lack of true conviction, a fear of change and the pain that it involves. you can hardly blame the american public for baby bush and his cronies. in his first election he was a relatively unknown quantity in a country tired of clinton's glad-handing and meaningless platitudes. the second time around his opponent was totally unelectable. we can only choose from those choices that we are given. the real problem lies in a system that has outgrown itself, an unwieldy federal monstrosity whose only true aim is its own growth.

so we will have an obama presidency, an echo of the simpering of the carter years. it ain't no big thang. the nanny state will grow stronger and a few minor freedoms will be denied us. we will grow a bit weaker and fall a bit further down the international food chain, but we will be liked. sort of.

Truthfully there isn't a decent candidate left. I don't trust McBush and Obama. so now i'm just waiting to see who gets to be the next Dictator. i wonder how many months or weeks it will take for next Prez to declare war on Iran. undoubtedly we will end up in another foolish war.

I'm sure you've heard that the horrible Iranians are harboring terrorists too, right? Lets bomb bomb bomb Iran!!! Whoohoo... Anyone that harbors terrorists should be bombed, invaded, and than rebuilt using the USA tax payers dollars:mrgreen:

I also heard Iran is trying to produce weapons of mass destruction.... Does that sound familiar to anyone?:?......

Honestly, if I were an Iranian I would want to have some kind of protection from the "liberators" *cough cough bullshyt cough* that are coming and are bombing the middle east to spread our beloved 'democracy'(its been treating us nice lately with gas prices and the such, no?). I would be thinking of ways to protect my homeland from the power drunken USA that thinks they can police the world and go against the UN charter and thusly committing international war crimes. Maybe I'm a sick puppy, but I hope Iran has a strong enough militia to boot out the USA from committing genocide to a culture that has endured longer than our own. Fock the USA's international policy! Say yes to herb but say no to war!
