End of flower light cycle change effects

I've changed my plants to a 10/14 light/dark cycle as they entered week 13 of flowering. The grow room went from a slight skunky flowery aroma to an extremely strong berry and fruit smell. Two days in and the buds look lighter due to being frostier. Have any of you shortened your light cycle at the end of flower or have done 24+ hours of darkness? If so what benefits if any have you noticed by doing so?

I have, and there's little difference that you can tell. I belive you don't do the plants much benefit by cutting light cycle down. You're just witnessing the plants natural maturity at the end of life cycle, with less growth due to less light. In my opinion....

I've seen people here use it to speed up a flowering cycle (something about tricking it to believe winter is coming)

Don't know if its bro science bullshit or not tbh.

I shortened my timer from 12/12 to 11:30/12:30 because I was reading that sativas need this to mature properly and my sour d finally stopped growing new pistils after week 9 of flower (in week 10 now)
