end views of wing type reflector with ruler please?

can someone post a couple of views showing the end of a good gullwing or batwing reflector possibly with a measuring stick for size? I have a couple sheets of aluminum I'd like to give a shot at diy-ing one, but i have no idea about the angles to bend at. I mean the kind of reflector that is not continously curved, thanks in advance! I figure I can blow it up to the correct size and print it out and use it for a template.

Go to one of the hydro supply on-line stores , look at one of theirs , and see if they give specs .

thanks guys! it is lonely....yeah I've looked at hundreds of shops sites and not one good end view, has to be on purpose, its an illuminati conspiracy I tell ya .
I actually did try to bend my own and got hot spots all over.

i looked into reflector angles and if u make the sides at 45 degree angles it will reflect straight down so if your room is small this will work but if u want some more light spread go 30 degrees. i hope i explained that right. In other words if u made a reflector that was basically a upside down triangle the light would hit the sides and bounce straight down now if u bent the sides of the triangle out 15 more degrees it would make the lights foot print bigger. I tried to find u some diagrams on google but no luck. but here is a link on light reflection http://www.physicsclassroom.com/class/refln/u13l1c.cfm

thanks for the link, I guess I was just being lazy, I used to have some sofware that would trace light rays specifically for reflectors(as opposed to 3d ray tracing for composing pictures) but I lost it in one of my many pc moves. I guess Ill just do it by hand, just figured if someone had one of the reflectors with multiple bends in it I could just copy it off of a photo of it.

I've googled it before I need a side shot of one that I can get the angles from and havent been able to ffind a good side shot, thanks anyway

Dude i wish i knew what it was your trying to find ... but how hard can it be to bend a couple of sheets of aluminum ?

here .. i made this ... is this the kind of thing your looking for ?

batwing.jpg

I think the reason your not getting any help is we have no fuckin clue what your talking about :)

it would be that except one that has straight bends . not curved, for example look at the lumewing:
unnamed.jpgI need a picture of one like that(preferably a couple different ones) except from the socket end so to speak, so I can bend a piece of aluminum to match it. I would assume at some point they ran a reflection test on it to even out the spread of light, and no its not hard to bend a piece of aluminum, the key is in bending it properly. Clearer?

I don't think its an exact science dude :) .. measure from one side at the top About 3-4 inch in ... do the same at the bottom .... Draw a line down .... take it to a straight edge ( Like the edge of a table or a kitchen worktop ) and let the bit you want to bend hang over the edge ... Plat a long bit of wood on top and rock it to the side to bend ... and repeat :)

actually optics is an exact science, which is why I wanted to copy a proven design, I've bent aluminum plenty of times, on purpose and accidentally :)

Good luck then ... hope it works out ... when you find out the EXACT angle ... Let us all know ... then we dont have to bother searching google ether :)

feeling a tad snarky this morning are ya? :) +rep for keeping this bouncing to the top anyway. I thought it was a fairly simple request, people here seem pretty willing to help and god knows we all like posting pictures!

Yeah not a great day ... tierd :)

I think its just one of them questions that you will only really find the answer ether by going and taking measurments af one ... Or you will stumble on a poc with the exact dimensions .

Like i said ... Good luck ..and if you hit it ... let us know :)

Thanks for the Rep :)

:peace:
