Energy bill

where I am it's around 20 a month for 1000 about 8 bucks a month for a 400 and i run on 24 for veg, i have 4 lights going now and some are 12/12 my landlord pays hydro and they don't notice

well it really depends on how much you get charged for power of course right... I'm in BC it's cheap here, but ya gotta think right, a stove is like 2000 watts plus a dryer, a washer, a hot water tank, ya don't really gotta worry about power consumption unless ya got like 30 lights going,

I've got a 250w MH, air pump,water pump, circulating fan, humidifier, and 2 inline exhaust fans running 24/7. I pay almost 9 cents per kilowatt/hr and my bill actually went down $3 dollars because I wanted to try and even out the bill by installing flourescent bulbs throughout my house. Turns out I used less than expected. Gotta love it.

yeah, the wife and I try to be as energy efficient as possible during the grow. No extra lights on, adjusted thermostat, things like that. All those little things really add up.

My computer has a 600W power supply and that runs 24/7. So its not noticeable.
Your PC's power supply has that capacity, but it's unlikely drawing that much. If your power supply was always drawing its max rated power then energy saving features on your cpu, hard drive, etc. would be useless.

I did the math. Based on my charges per kwh on my bills, 1000w @ 18 hours per day is about $75 bucks/mo.

None of these is running constantly for 18 hrs., even the hot water tank.

Yes, I am in a North East rustbelt city. Energy prices are fairly high. I also have to factor a space heater for dark hours during the winter, so I pay attention to these costs.

It depends on how much your power costs. 1) Find out how much you pay per kwh on your bill. Energy and delivery charges might be separate, so make sure to add them together, along with any other costs per kwh. That's your kwh-cost. 2) Multiply your watts-used by the number of hours per day it will be on. That's your watt-hours. 3) Divide watt-hours by 1000. That's your kwh-used. 4) Multiply your kwh-used by kwh-cost. That's your cost per day. Units iz Dollar$. Multiply by 30 for cost/month.

- Something similar to this might be in a faq around here. Or by googling. If I messd up, please, someone correct me.
- I read once that ballasts use power over and above bulb wattage, so add 10% to consumption for the ballast.
- Don't forget to add power for fans etc., if measuring the cost of the grow.
- This kind of math can keep one from being enslaved, especially in the USA.

haha ill hafta to get my wife to do all that math shit ill get lost but i know we jus got our comp and im growing with 4 23 watt 2 13watt and 3 45 watt CFLs right now and our bill jumped like 49 dollars

Ha ha ha. If I asked mine to do the math I'd get something like, "I'm not your calculator, bitch!" She will cook for me and sex me up good, but for anything less than Lorentz transformations or differential equations I'm on my own. Hahaa.
