Ethos Banana Daddy R1 x 10 under 2 x Mars Hydro FCE 6500

Hey awesome fellow growers,

Thought Id chuck up my first grow diary ever. Always been a lurker and too shy to do my own grow journal in case I fuck up for all to see haha!

Also a first for me growing under leds! Fark yeah!!! So expecting some massive gigantic yields and frosty colorful buds
Will be growing in a 8 x 4 tent. 2 x Mars FCE 6500 and 10 x 20l buckets for a RDWC system.
10 x Ethos Banana Daddy R1 (10 x seeds)
Current ph 5.8
Res temp 21c
EC 1.8 (Tap water ec is 0.9)
Inside temps 26c
Night temp 20-21c

Photos are from around week 4 of veg.
They have just started 12/12 so will be documented from the interesting parts.
Notice 2 different phenos so far. 7 x normal serated leaf 3 x Broad stocky plants not much side branching

Day 7 12/12

All coming along very nicely
Plants seem to stretch less under leds than hps.



So far, these Leds are kicking ass. Running them at 75% and canopy is getting around 600 - 800 umol/s and the lights are at maximum height I can hang them below the fan and filter.
at the final height after stretch, the whole area will be getting around 900 ~ 1100 umol/s.

Will be putting the scrog screen up at day 14 to fill and even up the canopy. Will be doing a huge tidy up of the crap underneath and some defoliation then as well.

Love being able to take photos under the lights too!

Interesting to see how this run goes. Have grown under HPS for over a decade and really excited to see what the difference will be!

Will only be doing weekly updates since I only find the last few weeks interesting anyways!

UPDATE

Day 14 12/12

Ladies were getting very bushy whilst remaining stocky with minimal stretch.
Tidied up all the lower branches and have done a big defoliation. Normally dont take this much off but see how it goes
SCROG nets have been put in to even out the canopy.
love stretching the ladies legs out and spreading them out nice and wide!
Lights on at 100% around 4ft from canopy showing around 800umol/s all round







The 3 phenos at the end that are more indica leaning arent branchy at all and remain stocky and ugly lol

Rubbish bag full of fan leaves...
Have taken cuts of all the phenos, hoping to find a nice keeper!

UPDATE DAY 22 12/12



Temp: Day around 25c 85f
Night 21c ~ 80F

Ph: 5.8 to 6.2
EC: 1.7 ~ 2.0
Ladies are looking very healthy and no issues so far.
Have lowered the lights to around 40cm from canopy and set to 100% as they seemed to be handling the intensity fine without stress.
All areas of the tent min 900umol/s to 1100. Really happy with the coverage

Have lollipopped much of the lower growth but not as much as Id normally do under HPS as I felt the light intensity is strong enough to penetrate all the way through. Instead I defoliated more than I normally would to open the plant right right to the intense light.

Stretch is minimal under leds compared to hps. So far absolutely love these lights. Saving a fortune on cooling as well as I dont need to run the ac most days

UPDATE DAY 27 12/12

EC 1.5 ~ 2.0



Developing lots and lots of lovely bud sites.
Hoping for a min 3lb harvest
Checking daily for any signs of hermies as I've had some issues with hermies on a another pack of Ethos Banana Daddys.
So far all looking good, 10/10 no nanners found on any.

Really surprised how close you can run the lights to the tops. Ive got one about 4 inches from the light and no burn or light bleach.
So far 7 phenos all medium stretch and nice buds stacking and 3 shorter phenos with minimal stretch.

UPDATE DAY 37 12/12

Increased EC to 2.2 (Hopefully handle it alright)
Still taking a few leaves off every few days to open the ladies up more.

Phenos looks pretty consistent, 2 types really. BD # 8 is smelling beautiful, really sweet and skunky.


Had a bit of a mishap the other day where i left my phone in the tent after the lights when out and forgot about it lol. Kept ringing the phone to look for it so would have been flashing randomly after lights went out for about 30mins!!
Still no sign of hermies though! Phew!!

Tent is starting to smell beautiful, next few weeks should be interesting

UPDATE DAY 44 12/12

Ok things arent looking that great actually..

Temps around 85F or 28c
Humidity around 45 ~ 50 %
EC inreased to 2.4

Noticing tips curling up due to the higher EC levels.
No deficiency I can see really.

why are these buds so damn small lol.

First time growing under leds, honestly thought the yields would blow 2 x 600w HPS out of the water..
Cant see it happening tbh.
Ive grown a few diff phenos of this same strain (seed) under HPS and mostly got plants with nice sized colas.
There are 10 different phenos here and not 1 have nice sized buds so far!

Upon doing some reading up from a few other growers, seems they have experienced similar and have gone back to HPS.

What do yas reckon?

8 x 4 area.
2 x Mars FC 6500 EVOs
RDWC
8 x Clones or Ethos Grandpa's Cookies # 6

Found this pheno out of a pack of 10 seeds. Absolute beast of a plant with minimal leaves.

Have only run under a 600w hps before and 1 plant yielded 14ozs of dank bud.

Let's see how it goes under LEDs


Current EC 1.5
PH 5.8

Also got a new TS1000 just for the mother plant

Update Day 57 12/12

Ok almost coming to another end of grow!

Here are the different phenos.

#1 (Not too far from being done, week or 2 ill chop down)



#2 (Tallest of them all. Lanky mf with small foxtaily buds)


#3 ( Short, decent sized nugs, very nice smell)


#4 (another shorter decent sized nugs)


#5 (Possibly fav smell)



#6 (Frostiest of em all, quite stretchy and not really dense buds, should have chopped alot more shit underneath and pruned more branches)



#7 (really stocky plant, didntg like the pheno at all)



#8 (SImilar to above)


#9 SImilar to above again..

so... buds got a bit bigger but not huge lol. They do seem dense and there is so much larf under the canopy that I should have chopped off.
Still have another 2 weeks or so to go so hopefully they fatten up more \

Reckon with a bit of adjustments I could easily get more than a hps yield.
Observations so far compared to hps.

Buds seem terpier
Seems to be finishing faster
Seems to drink more water than under HPS?

Next run crank your lights to %100 during the stretch. Lower to %75 and back them off at week 4-5. Crank to stack better, and backing them off will stop most of that foxtailing.

Hey thanks for that tip mate. I reckon it makes sense and will give it a go next run.
what would you recommend to dim to from week 5, ideal umol/s? and distance from canopy?

I use the back of my hand, I don't own a meter. I also run different lights than you. Some of mine dim in %10 increments, some %25. It's hard to generalize with so many variables. Mid week 4 my lights are about 20" around %75.

Update on the Ethos Grandpas Cookies # 6 x 8 clones
Under 2 x Mars Hydro FC 6500 EVO in 8x 4 tent

Have Started flowering a week earlier than expected from vigorous growth.
Just finished tidying up some leaves and branches and chucked the scrog screen in.

Currently day 2 12/12
EC: 2.3
Lights around 85% intensity

Keep an eye on this cut, shes a beauty!

UPDATE DAY 15 12/12
GRANDPAS COOKIES #6

Scrog nets filled up. Lollipopped all underneath screen.
Light at maximum height and letting plants grow into it. I know roughly how much this one stretches, wil be tight at the end.
Current EC: 2.0
Light at 100% around 3 foot from canopy getting 800 ~ 900 umols. Stacking nicely for the huge colas I know will come

Banana daddy harvested on day 70. DIdnt get pics as was in a mad rush lol..
Reckon will get close to 3 lbs all up
