Yeah where did you find that? Ive been thinking about getting a stand alone unit for one plant just to see how I like it compared to soil.

is that a penis enlarger?
LOL!

In another thread im getting mixed signals on the waterfarm units, some say they are awesome and work great, others say they suck, dont buy it, they have too much build up of residue from nutes etc. So im not sure what to think, Im not looking to change my ways overnight, just want to get my feet wet with a hydro grow. So....whats the best option to explore a hydro setup? I dont want some huge reservoir in my grow, something like a stand alone unit would be best for me as it wouldnt change anything in my soil grows.

just get a black bucket and a airstone and your good to go fair warning dwc will blow soil away and soon your whole room will be full of buckets

this is suposed to be really good for hydro even butter than most systems because the roots never leave the water itis a good stand alone unit..
if u want to make it then you need an airstone and pump a black bucket with lid and net pot and you're nutes and you're away so does anyone think its a good idea?

Well hell, I already have an extra pump, tubing, check valve, and air stones as extras for my girlfriends aquarium. The pump and stones are kinda on the small side though. How much air would I need? And is that really all there is to it in DWC? Im using foxfarms liquid nutes in my soil now & they can be used for hydro as well so that base is covered. So I guess I need the bucket, lid, net pot, and some type of medium. Am I missing anything? Sounds too easy, what are the cons?

3 recomendations for doing hydro, well I guess one of them is just general growing... anyways... 1.) get some mosquito dunks 2.) don't put sugars/molasis in your DWC 3.) always have some pesticide on hand (general grow tip)

I went with an 8" tall storage container that's about 2'x3.5' some where in there. It holds 5 gallons and I have holes for eight plants. Then I have a "double" air pump. A single pump but has two connections, both go into the 5 gal res. Doing some LST'n this round I'm thinking four plants are better. I just put some plates over the holes that aren't being used.

one negative aspect of DWC that no one mentioned is algae.

algae will grow out of control if any light gets to your water. a black bucket isn't suffice, covering a black bucket with reflective tape is barely suffice. wrapping the buckets in thick black plastic and covering everything with cardboard is the solution.

be very critical of your setup as far as light goes. if things are thrown together carelessly, algae might be a problem. maintaining a low pH and adding hydrogen peroxide only slow the algae down. light is the enemy.
