Do you know the way you get flowers delivered and the stems are in water as this prolongs the life on the flower for a few days.

Is this the same principle for fully developed buds on a branch?

I need to cut main branches down (fully grown ripe buds) from my grow and move them, to give me more time to clip the leaves can i put all my branches in a bucket of water or will the leaves still droop and stick to the buds? which by the way makes it a NIGHTMARE to chop!!!

What is the best way?

Make sure that you cut the stems at an angle and under water if possible to ensure they will be best suited for your issue. Keep them cool and they should have no noticeable degradation for at least a couple of days. You may still experience some leaf droop after all of this but it shouldn't be a problem. :weed:

Like said before there is no need for you to clip the leaves just cut branches of buds bag and move,hang to dry and cut leaves later....the leaves don't have to be alive and perky when you trim them.....it may be more tedious that's all..

When I do a chop I start by removing all the fans off the selected chop. After the chop i place the stems in RO water for 24 hours ensuring they don't go dry. This does better than a conventional flush. They can live and grow for a week or more with stems in water, which is not nessesary.Remove each shoot as you trim as they will stay perky and easier to trim. You'll find that everyone on RIU chops, dry, then trim, which is the way i once done it many years ago. Do it both ways and choose which is best for you.

Just to clarify......?
You want to cut off the stems with plenty buds
but leave all the foliage on the branch
and keep it all as healthy and unchanged as possible
for a few days - then you will do the chop???

What's the purpose?

Will you leave some of the plant still growing???

When I'm done the trim they go straight into the dark room. Dieing budd that's exposed to light can cause a bad taste.

This type of major surgery should have been taken care of during veg cycle, eh? Plants need time to get back to 100% after losing limbs. So try to plan(t) in advance next time. Cut any branch more than 1/8 inch wide and you will see the branch is hollow in the middle. That large hole allows the plant to siphon up a lot of water quickly when they go to flower. Just as the florist wants the buds to stay moist. If the branches to be removed are "fully ripe" that is your answer right there. Treat the removed branches as a partial harvest. Growers often harvest part of a plant and let the rest continue to ripen. Note -- the more time between chopping off the branches and doing a final trim - the more time it will take. Try to do your trim as you harvest the plant. After a plant or branch hangs overnight all the pistil hairs and sugar leaves fold up and take forever to trim properly. If you want to keep the line going you should take a look at re-growing a harvested plant. Good luck, BigSteve.

Hey STE147 as long as the buds are in a closed bag the leaves will not droop.............just don't leave them in there too long without burping or they could get moldy but that should solve your prob....
