The link below goes to pics of the suspect plant. Anyway, i received a plant and by the time i put together a grow spot and got lights hooked up the plant has vegged for about 2 months now , i think. Anyhow should i just take clones from her and start again or should i just throw her into flower after a lil training and hope for the best? I can see the logic in both ways but i'de like an experienced growers opinion and perhaps a bit of guidance. Cool?

Good call, cus' that's what i'm gonna do. I just grabbed off 6 or 7 of the lower branches and will use these as the new plants ,and maybe try to flower them all together ,giving the new clones time to grab hold. How long roughly ? 3 wks? 4? Anyway , the mother looks better already with all the lower ,lanky stuff off. Will take pics tomorrow as they are sleeping now. Seems like a workable plan, then i can train the clones properly as they grow,(i've been asking every grower i know 4 tips on trimming ) .It was suggested for me to cut it right in half ,and it prolly would'nt take too long to bounce back but i don't have that confidence yet.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention , taking the clones had me handling the plant a lot more than usual but i can't help but notice that after two or three touches , my fingers or somewhat sticky. More so than i would have thought. Also smells wonderful , seems early to have such a sweet, sticky smell?! Is that a good sign or is that sorta normal of all plants??

mine smell from clone isnt it nice??? my clones take 7-14 days to root then veg as long as u like just remember it will probally double in size so thats how i judge how long to veg. (i have space issues) here is a link on cloning

Thank you motoxmom , i've cloned before but one thing idid'nt know was the tip of preparing the mother for cloning (misting, ect.) Thanxs for the link or i would have never known that. BTW wow, very detailed 40 plant grow you have there. Those are exactly the kinds of things i need to read, to see how an experienced grower handles her business. I am sort of picking this up as a hobby and i must say i am enjoying the whole experience very much so all the info WILL be put to good use. Thanks again.

Here is after i stripped the lower stem, although there are still two that need to go as well , i think. Looks better? kinda funny lookin now

oh ya she looks pretty :) she will make a nice big cola :) TY for the compliments this is my first time growing anything but im a little ocd so i have to know everything about everything lol, and when i do it i do it big :) not quite what i expected or wanted thats why im changing a few things for next time and ill be able to see if more trimming works better or if less is more :) im at 7 weeks so will start new batch (have babies already) eventually illl have it perfect. took me a few months to perfect cloning but i did it :)

Great! Since i started with just the one plant i've become sorta attached to it so i would hate to see her go to waste, Tomorrow i upgrade my 250watt to a 400 and i'll have about six lil ones and the largge one going right into flowering after a (roughly 2 wk.?) to root and veg a bit. I'll keep an eye on them and i won't rush them either. Should work out fine afterall. I'm a happy guy :-P:clap: Will post pics when they grow up abit

No, no idea, my neighbour gave it to me, but i know he got it from a local grower so it might have potential. I'm in 'Northern lights' country so its prolly a NL cross of some sort. Maybe...

okay, so the final plan is::: i'm going to throw 'mother' into flower today, and the 6 or 8 clones i took , i will mature a bit outside( covered WELL from bugs) because we are having our 3rd wk. of relentless sun ,might as well use it) then when they are 3-4 wks. throw them into the flowering room. Sounds good but if anyone wiser can think of any problems with that plan ,please please tell me. I'm in trial and error mode and i could use any help out there if someone else has had similar siuatuions as this.

Ever write a bunch of stuff and then read it back and think," Yep, your high"?? :?

IOm not sure if anyone will read this but: quik ?? When flipping to the 12/12 hr light cycle i thuoght i would give an extended dark period before ,then switch. For example i would usually supply light from 6am to midnight now i want to switch , so i was thinking instead of 6 am , maybe run from 8 pm to 8 am therefore saving energy not being on at peak power usage hours. Is this correct thinking or are there better ideas ?? Please and thank you

2 months of veg is good enough. i believe the shorter the less time it takes perhaps 100 days total before being chopped down is good enough depends on your light setup

O.k. so i'm in day 4 of flowering (pics incl.) Here's the update so far: I had 8 clones taken and were starting to root. We have been having good sun , so i put them in a moisture dome and on my back deck. Well, i went out it it got to 102 in the shade so i came home after 4 hrs. to nearly dead clones. Now, i totally should have known better but i was going to get a tooth pulled and was in pain and not thinking clearly at all. Anyway 4 days later and i think i can save 6 of them ,so thats' o.k. The reason for worrying about clones at all is that i don't know what the mother is and i would hate it if it turned out to be really good and i had no more plant. Just backup, i guess. So, she's getting bigger and looks loike alot of sites. I don't profess to be a pro or even competent, i'm just learning and enjoying the process. I have done virtually nothing to this plant but taken some cuts, and bent it over. So, be it. It be so.

Oh and as for details: i'm on the 12/12 cycle (7pm-7am/off peak hrs.) i use a dimmable 400 hps set at 250 super lumen at the moment. At 400 it gets up to 93 degrees so in 4 days i will get proper 6" can fan to improve air circulation, am using a 100cmf bathroom fan as exaust and 120mm pc fans for air in in grow area and light area. I mention this cus' i have a thin thin piece of glass splitting the air betwwen my light and plant to control temps. Also i use a 2 part local hydro shop blend for nutrients. The part 1 says total nutrition plant food 3-1-3 ,ph corrected (use 1 tsp. per litre). Then part 2 bloom suplement 0-2-3 in equal parts. I spray once a month with light neem oil , and mist every 2nd morning before lights out. Have had no pests at all...YET. All i can think of.
