Here it is, the new extractor fan, i don't grow anymore but this is all my equipment leased to a friend and i'm asking the question on behalf of him.

Fan is 5" so are the vents, air flow rate of 280

Fan also came with this but it did not fit in the vent so i removed the fan from it

I don't have ducting until i buy the ducting possibly for delivery on wednesday - thursday when i am off work
so the fan needs to remain in the vent but i can't get the fan any further back than it is in there, it's hanging downwards as you can see, the straps aren't able to get very tight around it i feel it is very unsecure.. i don't want it to fall and break, any advice would be much appreciated thank you.

Also how many ducting clips? i actually can't find any source for this information, i must be googaling wrong.

Also how to's on if i decide to get a silence or a carbon filter will help

Tent size
1.2 x 1.2 x 2m

Thank you in advance

This is what happened to the top hanging/support beams, the lovely hooks are all snapped although the tent is holding my 600watt hps cooltube, and fan without much problem it would still be nice for them, i have contacted the ebay seller of the tent and he said he doesn't have spare parts, manufacture unknown as it was a cheap tent (no brand) does anyone know where i can get me one of these fixings in the uk, or any idea of what i could replace the poles with without me having to buy a new tent or have the carbon filter outside of the tent not directly attached to the fan? :(

You'll need to put that casing part back on in order to secure ducting properly, you'll want 1 jubilee (ducting clip, whatever) per side of the fan 1 for the carbon filter... If possible I'd suspend the fan on the inside of the tent and run the ducting out, just look for any non broken supports and tie using some sort of string/wire.

If you really want to fix it, just go to B&Q, Homebase or Wickes and look for plastic pipe of the same diameter that the broken poles are they're usually in the plumbing section. or just get a length of wood long enough to slot on top of the main structure but under the fabric and screw some hooks in it.

As for the carbon filter, it will have to be attached directly to the fan, they silence it quite well so you wont need a silencer imo. I always have my carbon filter outside with the fan blowing into it, as it's a more efficient airflow that utilizes the maximum surface area of the filter. If you want it inside you could run ducting to the floor from your fan and just have the filter sitting there, but the tidiest option is usually hanging it whenever possible.

Stay Frosty!

That fan doesn't produce enough CFM's (cubic feet per minute of air pushed/pulled) to be able to connect a carbon filter to it. You will have to get an inline fan to run one. The bigger the filter you get, the bigger the fan you'll need. You have a booster fan for helping air move through vents that are on a long stretch in the house. Those are ok for pushing fresh air into the tent to keep down temps and keep fresh co2 rich air in there.
