Hello Again RIU Community! Once again I beseech you for some assistance...
I just acquired a 400w MH ballast, fixture and bulb for $30--great deal, I was stoked.
Unfortunately, I thought it was an HPS when I went to pick it up--when I learned it wasn't, I offered $30 to take it anyway. Worked out for everyone.
So now I want a conversion bulb to run HPS and use the new fixture to flower. I've looked into using "warm" or "gold" metal halides as well, with kelvin temps around 3000k, but the lumen output was less than the EYE hps conversion bulbs.
So, I found an EYE Ultra Ace 360w HPS conversion bulb online for $62 with shipping. Good deal, so I bought it. But then I got to thinking...why was this such a good deal? Upon further investigation, I discovered it is not an Eye HORTILUX Ultra Ace conversion bulb, but an Eye SUNLUX Ultra Ace conversion bulb. I downloaded the technical specifications for both, which I will upload for your review. As best I can tell, there is ZERO difference between the two, other than the NAME. Oh, and the website for the Sunlux is eyelighting.com while the hortilux is eyehortilux.com. Both are based out of the same address in Mentor, Ohio.
So...anyone have thoughts on what is going on here? If you open the two spec sheets next to each other and analyze it line by line, you can see every line is just about exactly the same.
I've already bought the light, but I could try to cancel the purchase if we can discover a reason for me to get the Hortilux instead.
Thanks RIU!
So the files are too big to upload (it's a two page pdf file...not sure why it's too big to upload...), so I'm just going to post the links and you can you get the spec sheets that way.
Here's the Sunlux...click on the first product number listed next to the 360w
