F1 vs. F2 hybrids: pros and cons

Hello everybody. I have been wondering for a long time what the difference between F1 and F2 hybrids is. Not from a breeders perspective, just a growers perspective. For example, are F1 hybrids more potent than F2's, do they yield more, etc.

I figure this might be a good one for subcool since he's our resident breeding expert. Thanks in advance. :weed:

I'll let someone who knows more about genetics give you a definite answer, but I think basically f1s tend to be more uniform and extra vigorous. If you're growing out f2s you will have plants that combine the worst traits of both parents and others that combine the best, so you need more plants to get a nice mom.

Look up mendelian genetics on google.

OK. That kinda confirms what I've been told and what I've read. There's not a whole lot of good info on the subject ya know? It's been a long time since I've had biology so I'm a bit rusty on my genetics. I've been doing F2's for a while and I like the results I've been getting so far. I'm getting a bit bored and want to get some new strains so I'm doing as much research as I can so I can be sure to get something that fits my needs. There are too many strains to choose from so my head is spinning 'cause I want to try them all! lol!:weed:

Thanks abe!
