Id do a STINKBUD set up, only on a bigger scale being that you have more space eg. instead of the 4ft nft post with 7 plant sites extend it to 10 ft with 20 plant sites..along those lines..

do you want a single harvest or rotating crops? what kind of budget do you have?
I want to get into rotating. some type of SOG grow. I do have 15 foot ceilings or something to that effect as well. My problem is that it's an apartment complex. So i'm only a wall away from my neighbor. Although I do have the top floor of the apartment.

Budget - I dunno. Not too much. maybe $1,000 at the upper limit. I'd like most of the money to go to hiding smell, light, and security.

Sounds like you have more space then your budget will equip properly. Just to exchange the entire volume of air every 5 min you would need a 675cfm fan, and since your in an apartment complex a reliable carbon filter would be a must. To maintain an exhaust volume of 675cfm, you would need to get a filter that is rated at approx 800cfm. This is due to the restriction of flow the filter places on the fan. If you search around I'm sure you'll find just the ventilation equipment you need would eat up better than half your budget....you could go with a sealed room, but its very difficult to make any room 100% air tight. And then you would need to add a portable A/C unit to deal with the heat and a CO2 system to keep the plants from suffocating.....

The system isn't exactly scaleable if you have any experience with it. It can be done but it's alot of work. ALOT.

Be careful with the smell. That's how people get caught. I'f I were you I'd build a large grow tent out of 2X2 wood and put a DIY carbon filter on the exhaust. You might even want to have an odor neutralizing agent going in the room. It's risky growing in apartment buildings. Good luck though

I would highly recommend PHRESH filters

Their smaller, weigh less, and the carbon has more surface area and is possibly higher grade then other filter companies.

They tend to last longer then other brands from what I understand. My friend has had the same filter for 1.5 years and about 4 or so seasons. They are about 170 bones. I am just starting to smell the green from the outside of the grow area but inside the garage. It is a 10x12x8 and has a 400 cfm

You won't have to worry to much about smell if you can make the whole room negative pressure with a filtered outlet. But this could mean 'modifying' your rental which is generally not a good thing.

Also look into quantum lighting, I would recommend a 600 for maximum efficiency vs light output.

Remember you can and should start small unless you know you can handle a lot of plants. Not many people realize the amount of work that goes into raising that many plants.

A grand? Do you already have some gear or starting from scratch? A grand is pennies to the costs it will be to use that entire space.Dont spend money on a tent-build your own box-2x4's and some panda film with some hardware. youll prob have enough for a decent little single A.C. Hood setup-go with a 6 inch Vortex and a can filter.Vent out the window or cut a hole in your wall.

For my first grow, I thought just over a grand would cut it, but i have ended up spending over $2k on a basic tent setup. I wanted to keep things simple so went for a 1.8 x 1.8 tent, singular autopots and a 400W HPS. I later added (once I had the funds) ventilation and a carbon filter so maybe you could consider that option.

If its a rental (like mine) then portability is vital - i would definitely go for a tent since it can be dismantled easily in a couple of hours but a good size will cost you $400 or more depending on where you buy it, Lighting and ventilation would definitely put you over $1000.

I have had nothing but success with my babies with this simple setup. Autopots are easy to maintain (and move), the tent seals up and could effectively be hidden by leaning an old mattress up next to it or making a 'junk' room. Once you have more funds you could easily add a second tent and alternate cycles.

damn i just don't know.

it's a rail road apartment. it goes room. room. room. kitchen. bathroom.

Maybe I'll build it into one of the smaller rooms. When I vent it does it have to go out of a window right away? Like if I cut one of the rooms inside the railroad apartment in half. and have it just vent back into the room. maybe have a fan on sucking air out of the room out the window? or is that very risky? like buildup of smell?

not risky as long as you invest in a good filter.you def wanna bring in fresh air to the growing area, not recycled air.Out the windows the best option though

He is right you should consider using a smaller space like a closet. if you are going sog you need to do it right and i dont care how small it is you are not going to get a good product with a set up of under one g.

Bullshit. Sure you can.You wont get quantity but you can easily get quality if you have a grand to spend. Good air flow and lighting Dr. Newbski-thats all you need.Write that down.. Dude could easily grow a few dank plants after a grand. Maybe you couldnt, but most could..

Really depends on how much you want to grow. If you only want a few ounces, buy a used cabinent, tent, or build a box. If you want to go bigger I would do something like below.

Build some walls out of panda and 2X2s to partition off a desired section of the room. Get some fans, used window unit AC. DIY Carbon filter for smell. I try and find some industrial bay lighting cheap, convert them to remote ballasts and buuy some decent bulbs. I can get 400w MHs for 20 bucks each all day everyday. Buy a HPS conversion bulb and for under $100 you can have a decent light. Depen

For $1000 I would buy a 4x8 tent and put a 3x6 tray on the floor. 8 1.5gallon buckets filled with soil...so 8 plants. Go on craigslist and buy two used 600w HPS lights, ballasts and hoods. Odor filter on one end of the lights and an exhaust fan extracting the heat from at the other end. You still might need ac but with this smaller tray in the bigger tend you might be able to fit a tower stly little ac in there. Water by hand.

Tent $200
Lights/ballast $250x2 = $500
Buckets and soil $75 ish
435 cfm fan plus filter $175 ish
Tray (go cheap) $150
Nutes $100

There will be some other icedentals but that's the core of the setup. With the right strains this could hit well over a P. Maybe 2 if you're on your game.
