Because of the collapse in global free trade and the shortages it is now estimated that there will be 3 billion people the world can't feed when the dust clears.

This is why I'm not a big fan of food globalization, or even the domestic centralization of agriculture. Creating these dependencies of a core item like food will make hard time turn into desperate times.

Look at it this way, we are only looking at a prelude to the global famines spawned by climate change.

I told a Maga friend I also was in favor of a well built and manned southern border wall. He congratulated me on "seeing the light" until I told him I figured it was the best preparation we could make for the adventure of drought and famine resulting from global warming.

World population has passed 8 billion but I think that trend will reverse itself soon as famine nears. Several countries are on the brink of famine and the number of countries will grow. Major rivers are drying up around the world and rising prices and shortages of fertilizer and diesel fuel will speed up food shortages. Now that there are more weather extremes a new term has entered, "wet famine", where areas of the planet are having crop failures due to too much rain, things are looking pretty bleak unless you are wealthy.

The world is likely to face major disruption to food supplies well before temperatures rise by the 1.5C target, the president of the UN’s desertification conference has warned, as the impacts of the climate crisis combine with water scarcity and poor farming practices to threaten global agriculture.

Too many people on the planet anyway. I say we should get rid of all the watchers of "Reality TV" to clean up the gene pool.
