yeah, we've all heard of rolling up a doobie with a leaf but has anyone ever done it?
and if so, how do you dry the fan leaves and prepare the doob?

What can be dryer than a paper? I would agree it should be a bit dry, but not completely so.haven't done it but if I were to do it I think you have to use freshly harvested fan leafs to make it with because if you think about it using fan leafs that is partly dry can cause problems while trying to make it.
wouldnt the chlorophyll effect taste though? and i think if it were like semi-dried i could seal the joint with the beeswax glue on raw papers. just wondering if anyones done it.haven't done it but if I were to do it I think you have to use freshly harvested fan leafs to make it with because if you think about it using fan leafs that is partly dry can cause problems while trying to make it.
hahahaha i should have known, spaghetti is always the answer.you have to make it into a paste then roll it out flat dont forget to add the spaghetti.
The reason why you don't use dried leafs is because when you use fresh leafs to make the joint or w/e its easier to work with (imo) then you let it dry.wouldnt the chlorophyll effect taste though? and i think if it were like semi-dried i could seal the joint with the beeswax glue on raw papers. just wondering if anyones done it.
so fan leaves arent an option? oh well, maybe ill try out some sativas so i can get some long leaves for this. The secret's in the freezer sir. When you harvest a bit of bud and you're cleaning it up. Keep to the side some of the mid sized sugar leaves. The ones that have triches going along the edges are a must but the danker the sugar leaf, the danker the wrap.
Put those sugar leaves into some tupperware that you have put a little uncooked rice into the bottom of and make sure you don't mash them in. They need to be as unsmushed as possible later on.
Now let's assume it's a few weeks later and you're sitting in the living room with a bit of time on your hands and a bowl of just cured(although not super well but you're dying to smoke)buds in front of you and wondering how that ol' Space Ghost was gonna turn that frozen stuff into a rolling paper.
Well go get the box out of the freezer, a pair of scissors, and a bong/bowl/vape out of your hiding spot. This is a project I recommend being stoned to do.
Now we are going to be cutting the fatter parts of the central vein in the sugar leaves. This is to make them more pliable and flexible. Depending on the size of the leaves you are using and how frosty they are, you may need anywhere from 15 to 30 leaves per wrap.
After you cut the first few, you can begin to lay them out. You can use any surface but wax paper or baking parchment would be the best. You could use plain white paper if you don't have any wax paper.
The basic idea is that you are going to be using the trichomes as the glue that will hold your wrap together. You'll want to press the leaves into each other with something firm but pliable. I find that a clean pencil eraser makes a great pressing tool in this situation as it allows for accurate placement of pressure.
Now you go ahead with the process until you have your wrap built to your desired size(I recommend only going slightly larger than a normal paper for ease of rolling and expected shrinkage), and then flip it over and add your remaining leaves to the other side. These are to give the wrap a bit of extra backbone.
Grind up some weed. Put it in the wrap. Use the natural goo of the plant to seal the wrap. Let dry for a few hours or overnight. Enjoy.
This recipe can be done with fresh leaves if you already have some buds to smoke at harvest time.
good point. The reason why you don't use dried leafs is because when you use fresh leafs to make the joint or w/e its easier to work with (imo) then you let it dry.
I think in practice, fan leaves are the ONLY option.so fan leaves arent an option? oh well, maybe ill try out some sativas so i can get some long leaves for this.
thanks for the link, i think ill try this one, hash oil sounds like a good sealant.I remember seeing something like these pictures (in fact they may have been the exact same ones) nearly 20 years ago:
http://www.weedfarmer.com/joint_rolling/cannabis-cigar/cannabis-cigar.htm
Anyway, its not easy to do. Unlike tobacco leaves, which are really wide and broad, cannabis leaves are pretty narrow.
If you want to make a good wrapper, you have to figure out some way to get the leaves to stick together into a big sheet, sort of like papyrus. Then you have to figure out a way to get the leaf wrapper to stick shut. Typically this is done using hash oil as glue.
While this can be done, I wonder if its really worth the effort, especially when pure hemp rolling papers are so inexpensive and relatively easy to get.
I've actually seen someone roll a blunt using a dried banana leaf. Much easier, again, since the leaf is so wide and smooth. But if you're after it, this is what CAN be done, with enough work:
dont know why i didnt think of that myself. looks like im getting super baked this harvest hahaif you make honey oil maybe you use that as your glue when its warm and useable.
