I have a cannabis cultivating book and in it says to cut the fan leaves during flowering.

Isn't this bad for the plants. It needs them leaves for Photosynthesis, doesnt it??

Personally, I only cut away what is in the way of bud sites. I leave the rest for photosynthesis, and to help feed the plant in the event of not enough ferts or show me if I over fert.

EDIT: it also depends on type of grow (inside or out) and lighting if inside.

Shaded bud is still bud.. what do you think gives the plants energy, light on the buds? no Light on the Fan leaves. Do not cut anything please, if anything just push them out the way.

you guys are babbies. cut the damn leaves out of the way of bud sites. there are a million and one threads on this subject. its fine either way i have noticed larger denser buds on buds that are unshaded from fan leaves. i live a few for nute burn indicators thats about it.

LEAVE A FEW FANS as Burn indicators? Please make it to 1000 posts before giving more advice like this, & when that time comes wait 1000 more.

I believe its ok if done properly, which I have been experimenting with. I will be updating my thread soon. I did it twice (w/ GrapeGod) at the stages that seen to work well and now I will leave her alone. I think it was a success. And during harvest time which should be in the first week of Sept. we can all get a better look at my results. She's in a 11 gl w/ 1000w hps . I say do it but dount over do it. wait for a 1/8-1/4" or so growth at the node your clipping from. But make sure to leave 40% of the heathy fan leaves for energy. Wait a week or so and watch the results.. Id say add a week extra to your harvest date from the 2 clippings. She will be very naked but she will get bushy once again.

1. At the beginnibg of the stretch period.

2. 1 - 2 weeks after she appears bushy again and growing healthy.

But do what makes you feel good.. This is my second grow, so I may be wrong. But watch for my harvest pics of the GrapeGod.. . ... .. .

Best advice is not to cut the leaves. As stated the plant gets its energy from light absorbed through the fan leaves, not the buds. Think of them as solar panels. The more panels the more energy .PERIOD.

We want significant growth where we would only have slight growth .. More tops w/o lst = Bigger buds w/o the effort.

I get some side branches' , side branches as tall as each other this way. One branch with more than 1 cola

I agree and also do this, I also take of most of the lower fan leaves off. Ive never notice any negative effects
