Faster flowering? (at ANY expense)

Ok so for nearly a year ive been helping a close member of my extended family, who was diagnosed last year with an incurable cancer, by growing a couple plants for them at their property, as it's the only thing that's given him relief - and a LOT of QUALITY RELIEF - during chemotherapy. Like most of us he had only grown THC strains before, but I also got him onto CBD oil. Recently i harvested a Dinamed CBD which i tested with Thin Layer Chromatography [link] which showed 1:1 THC:CBD and he loved it.

Unfortunately, the cancer has become very aggressive over the past few weeks, and he is now down to his final chemotherapy option. It's also a very dangerous procedure. If it fails, he will then be put on "palliative care", where the cancer will "do it's thing", and he'll die in ~3 weeks. Palliative care is basically assisted suicide minus the suicide - you're forced to suffer; euthanasia is not legal here. We need to legalise marijuana, and we need to legalise euthanasia. He told me "I'm not sure if the kids can handle seeing me like that for those last weeks" (he has two kids < 10).

Long story short - because of cancer, WE'RE OUT OF TIME.

I've got two females (CBD Therapy and Dinamed CBD) about 1.5mo old now, and having learned the bad news flicked them over to flowering straight away.

This means i'm about 9 weeks from typical harvest... we don't have 9 weeks.

So this is almost certainly going to be a premature harvest, possibly only a few weeks in. Cannabinoid levels obviously won't be as strong, but in theory it would simply mean "having to eat two cookies instead of one for a similar effect". Let's not bother debating the exact semantics of cannabinoid profiles over time.

So, out of desperation, I ask if anybody knows of ways to hurry-along the flowering process? It's not something I've (probably most of us) ever had to look into. Yes, I know there are no real magic shortcuts, but I wonder if there are some that help shave some time off... any time.
And, at any expense - for example I don't care about yield. Yield won't be too bad anyway as they're already 1.5mo in veg. I don't care about flavour, or how resinous/dank the buds look etc.

For example, instead of 12/12, are there any other light schedules that might help here? even non-24hr cycles?

Can try running it at 14 hours on but from experience there is no way to speed up finishing.

At the end of life thing here in the Uk heroin can give sone quality of life but yiu high as fuck. Maybe an option but idk much just that some ive known have had it from our health service.

Possibly there is somemethod of making oil or somthing idk peeps might have some ideas here from half finished bud.

I hope things turn around for your friend. I would sell what i could and blaze my way to the end. Sorry to hear best wishes <3

Theres nothing you can do to speed it up unfortunatly. Cbd is produced last, so in your case even the trick that are around wont help you. You can buy cbd isolate online delivered to any state however. There are a lot of options, one brand is called cbdistillery. Just google for cbd isolates and you can have some relief in days for honestly not much money. Hopefully you go that route, get some things that help give relief. Im sorry your family and friends are going thrugg this, but at least you are all supportive of each other. I can only hope that when its my time i have people around me who feel the same.

use the Emerson effect, that will save you a few days, to a week, google it. but basically, you use 730nm far-red light. You don't need much I use 10 wats to cover 6x6. turn them on right when the lights go off and leave it on for 6 minutes then turn it off. Every night, It makes your plants go to sleep right away.
Where are you? I am sure that a member of our community that is local to you will stand up and help you out.

Also, don't overlook fan leaves take some big fresh fan leaves and cook them in an egg souffle, you might find that cooking fan leaves might do the trick. The first time we tried this we got shockingly and happily fucked up. Like the best muscle relaxant ever

Heroin is never an option, but ironically the doctors during palliative care do make a lot of various opiate-based heavy dosing available, I'm guessing some of which are even more fucked up than heroin ... heroin dressed in a doctors uniform and bit of paper with your name on it - the "socially acceptable" form. I'm guessing most cancer victims are off their tits on opiates during the final weeks.

Growingforfun, "Cbd is produced last" - i've got no idea, though I have read that CBD can be detected in Thin Layer Chromatography very early on (even just a couple weeks veg) from an ~80s science paper, thats the only source ive read that though ... I'll find out soon anyway as i took some small samples when I topped two different CBD strains last week (~6 weeks into veg). Maybe "the bulk of the CBD is produced last" though, again I don't know, but will be doing at two maybe three TLC's on these two girls so i'm fascinated to see how it turns out.

The Emerson effect is the increase in the rate of photosynthesis after chloroplasts are exposed to light of wavelength 680 nm (deep red spectrum) and more than 680 nm (far red spectrum). When simultaneously exposed to light of both wavelengths, the rate of photosynthesis is far higher than the sum of the red light and far red light photosynthesis rates. The effect was early evidence that two photosystems, processing different wavelengths, cooperate in photosynthesis.
btw wouldn't all white lights produce this effect? assuming they go < 680nm.

It's really that simple, it takes 4 days to a week off my flower time. It basically turns off the plant, and it looks cool..... and It is NOT called the Emerson effect. sorry I misspoke. Let's call it far red flower initiation. It works well but it is called something else.

It has to do with Phytochrome Cromosphors, basically, a plant has 2 types one that turns the plant on that reacts to 680 nm and one that turns the plant off that reacts to 730 nm. Look up Phytochrome

I would also stay away from any hormones or other liquid products that claim to be flower initiators. Some work but are almost universally bad news.

And here I was hoping Dinamed would be a stable 0:1 thc/cbd. I wanted to make cbd oil with this plant but I guess the safest way for someone no THC tolerant (sister) is just to make it from hemp.

According to Dinafem's webpage for Dinamed CBD...
(...) we can guarantee Dinamed CBD’s THC levels will range from 0.5% to 1%, the latter being a rare thing, while her CBD content could be around 10%-14%
The page also says her heritage is 60% Sativa/ 40% Indica, and description says "She is a rather Sativa-dominant marijuana plant, with a strong personality and Sativa-like thin and elongated leaves".

What I ended up with was 1:1 THC:CBD as easily seen in two different (diff eluents) Thin Layer Chromatographies... they were both PACKED full of THC and CBD, so something like 5%-12% of both CBD and THC in equal measures (their combined "spot" was slightly bigger than the THC spot in a Cinderella 99 in the same test), far more than "0.5 to 1%" THC for sure. Healthy levels of CBG and CBC too.

But, please note that the pheno i ended up with was very indica-dominant, and thus seemingly not the true representation. So if that's the case, still ending up with a 1:1 strain was a very nice Silver Medal, and from a medicinal perspective I can vouch from a cancer patient that it was very good (and by comparison he didn't at all like FemaleSeeds Cinderella99 grapefruit pheno). Because he liked it i'm now growing a 2nd Dinamed, this one looks a bit more sativaish to me, so hopefully this one gets a better ratio, although the leaves aren't quite as thin as the description sounds.... anyway fingers crossed.

Im also growing a CBD Therapy alongside her (can only grow 2 plants, also extra frustrating - if i could grow more i would be able to cull the indicas), again supposed to be sativa for the highest CBD ratio, but mine is very very indica, superfat leaves, so sadly I don't think it will be CBD Therapy's best representation, but we'll see. Another Rollitup thread has had good results from Candida [link] which i plan to grow next after these two.

Yes it's probably easiest to make (non-THC) CBD oil from (specific) hemp strains yes ... you'll certainly be able to pretty much completely (~99.7%+) avoid THC that way, but you'll get very low CBD levels around 3% ... (which basically just means you need to consume more oil, but also means it's not cheap or as efficient as it could be)

My other thoughts...
1) WHICH hemp strain!? A lot don't have much CBD, from what i've read about 100+ hemp strains less than ten have "useful" CBD levels
2) The high-CBD hemp strains seem to max out at about 3-% CBD so it's not so efficient. (Until the past twenty or so years it has NEVER been bred for high CBD or other cannabinoid levels, just "hemp qualities", and some recreational THC breeders originally tried to get rid of CBD from their strains due to its "counter-THC effect")
3) I've tested a couple of different hemp oils now and both had the same 'fingerprint', and they were very bland-looking ... a good amount of CBD but not much else ... "full spectrum" yeah, but there's very low amounts across the table - it seems like a full spectrum on a non-nutritious diet.
4) these new non-hemp CBD strains not only offer higher CBD levels, they probably also offer a better spectrum in terms of other cannabinoids (eg the Dinamed also had unusually high CBG + CBC)

..... but have the breeding industry stabilised these new non-hemp CBD strains yet? Clearly not quite yet, so there's still a bit of "sifting the good phenos from the bad", but these phenos ARE THERE thankfully :)

My sister has migraines and insomnia but she has never smoked any THC. I thought about growing only CBD strains for her and 1:1 strains for me. I also suffer from insomnia and anxiety, but the problem I have is that THC causes me withdrawal symptons when I stop smoking. Some people don't feel anything. While im highly tolerant to weed (I can smoke a lot before getting really stoned) im very susceptible to withdrawal symptoms, that means when I stop smoking I can go 48 hours with no sleep, irritability and lack of appetite, and two weeks of general discomfort. That's why I started growing 1:1 strains. However I think I will have the same symptoms even when using this strains. Maybe I could try to make some CBD oil to go through this symptoms and enjoy the anti anxiety properties of 1:1 strains, which is what I really need. The pic I show you is from Hurkle, supposedly 1:1 strain that I cut yesterday. I can't test my samples because it's really expensive here in Spain.

The thing is, a lot of seed makers claim they have strains with no THC and high CBD, and then people try them only to find that's not true at all. It happened with CBD therapy and they had to "re-stabilize the strain". You don't "re-stabilize" something, it's either stable or it is not. Now I find that Dinamed is the same thanks to you (really appreciate that). So that leaves me just one strain I can grow without being worried of having THC: Candida. And I still don't know if all phenotypes will be stable and contain no THC.

This is the strain I've found. It's DulceCanna (regular cannabis plant) crossed with hemp. I contacted them, they seem like serious people. They told me it's a stable strain, no THC involved or less than 1%.

See the Thin Layer Chromatography link in my signature, in the first page look for "Beam's Test" ... it only requires ethanol (i just use cheap methylated spirits which is 95% ethanol), and lye (potassium hydroxide), both very affordable, easy to source, and the test itself is very simple to do. It will basically tell you Yes/No as to whether or not the sample has CBD.
