Femenized????

Why waste time working with femenized seeds? High chances are they will hermie on you and a month worth of work gone in the trash.... Why not work with regular seeds and just cull out the males and you most likely will have straight females. You could use the Males to make f2s, f3s and so on.....I have never worked with femenized seeds but I do notice a lot of people have them with some good results and some bad results. I just don't see why waste time working with them and the company just makes profit. Maybe some of you can chime in with your experiences with them?

You grow in a closet that can only hold two or three plants...what if they are all males?

It'd take you a good 4 weeks minimum to find this out.

Plus maybe one really nice big plant is your preference? Growing out one
feminized seed allows you to veg for 8 weeks if you want with no fear of crapping out and getting a male. If you are a closet home grower...goodness forbid...but if you got pinched...having one large plant looks more "personal use" than does 6 little plants that have yet to be sexed.

I was once a closet grower myself as well, but I always had room to sex them. I would just root the clones and then sex them after being rooted.

If working with 2 plants I can see why femenized would be a better choice, probably for new growers as well. I personally think, if one gets pinched they weren't careful at all. I mean I am growing in an Apt and have yet got pinched (knock on wood). Possibily its because I am licensed, but that doesn't necessairly stop them. I honestly don't give a shit about the Government. They are human and they have no right to tell us what we can or can't do since the Plant has been here before our time. Let us all stand up to the Government. The amount of the people vs the government is greater and can shove them off to the sea.

I use femenized and have never had a problem.
As long as they come from a reliable company with good genetics you should be good to go.
I have a local seed company i go to and they have never given me a bad seed. 100% germination so far an no hermies.
I also get to grow a bunch of strains at once. I have 5 different strains in my current grow and all are femenized seeds from my local seed shop. I don't have the room to keep that many mother plants and i love having a variety of smoke.

legal plant limits. u cant stay within your limits if your growing out a dozen plants so u can weed out all the males.

i don't understand where all of this bs about hermies and feminized seeds comes from, i really don't... maybe people who have grown out fems from say greenhouse seeds and have had issues, but the thing people don't realize is that even greenhouse regular seeds tend to go hermie, lmao, so it has absolutely nada to do with them being feminzed..
i've grown out probably close to 10 different fem strains from as many different breeders, and i have never once seen a nanner or had a plant hermie on me.. i can't imagine it's just that i've had really great luck, cuz trust me, my luck sucks for the most part if it weren't for bad luck, i'd have none at all..
but yah, stick with the better known breeders who seem to have the fem thing down, and you should be golden, and stay away from the co's who have a bad reputation for hermies, fem seeds or reg's.. people like greenhouse pop to mind as well as i've heard some stories about barnies farm's fem stuff being pretty sensitive..
but i've grown fems from.. dna, reserva prevada, dr greenthumbs, sagarmatha, g13 labs, the cali connection, and i'm sure i'm forgetting one or two as well, and like i said, not one issue thus far.. :)

I had one straight male in a batch of feminized Dutch White Widows. I was pissed at first but it could have been an honest mistake as the rest of the seeds have produced thriving females. Zero Hermies (Knock Knock on Wood)

I have never had problems with fems hermieing on me. I grow scrog and fems make it so much easier. I think maybe you should read more and get some experience with a product before wasting everyones time with a post full of crap info.

Why don't you just get off my thread if you think its full of crap. I do my research myself probably more than you do. Like I stated I have never worked with femenized seeds. I am asking for other's opinions with their experience. There are tons of mixed reviews. I wouldn't mind working with femenized seeds, just don't want to waste my time with bad ones ya understand me? You obviously have low self esteem to be all boastful....

Thanks for the seed banks that have good femenized seeds. I have worked with Cali Connection regular seeds and never knew they had femenized ones. I will look into them.

I have used feminized seeds throughout my all grows and had only one hermie issue with a strain that showed staminate flowers in the middle of flowering (Master Kush from Dutch Passion). I found this strain particularly sensitive to becoming hermie, the second time I tried to grow it it started throwing bananas as well, but since it was already harvest time there was no real threat. Reading other people's grow journals prerequisite to purchasing seeds is advised so you can avoid running into these issues. If you are growing a strain which is not well known or documented then you will have to see for yourself. Generally you do not need to avoid breeder's, but particular strains (I had Ortega from Dutch Passion as well with no hermie issues at all). Also strains as blueberry are generally known to be prone to showing both sexes. With Dinafem and Reserva Privada I had no problems with their fem seeds whatsoever, each produced solid females.

happy growing!

All about gentics man. Buy from a manufacture that takes care of their gentic making and you will be golden. Greenthumbs or Nirvana will get you started on femanized seeds.

FYI I have grown successful feminized females from: DNA and Dutch Passion. The one hermie I ever had was from Seedsman. It was their northern lights strain. Its absolute crap in every way imaginable...avoid at all cost.
Interestingly enough...the Seedsman northern lights was a regular sex bean.
