filter on chimney vent?

What type of filter? carbon filter? Might be a little overkill but safety and stealth are pretty important so it might not be a bad choice, it just depends on how well your carbon filter(s) are working.
If anything I would maybe build a frame to hold a furnace filter to keep bugs and anything else out.

Solid idea... Just don't start a fire lol. How close are your neighbors? Doubtful after going through a stinky chimney, coming out the top, then spreading throughout the air would create much of a smell. I just blow mine straight into the attic no filter. Barely smells like tree up there and no smell comes out the soffets

well i've been reading about and some folk say they've been doing it for years with no problems, but one guy said on one particularly hot day with no air movement at all he could smell it 100 yards down the street. but 4 plants... could it really smell so bad? i'm thinking it's best to be safe and put a simple diy filter on. i've read how to make one, but i want just a cheap 7" fan to pull the air out of a 5m3 space and up the chimney. but now i'm getting the impression a 7" fan won't pull through a filter. as you can guess i wan to do this as cheap as poss so i don't really want to spend £50 on a bad ass fan.
