Yours seems to be a different model light...or maybe an earlier version? The red diodes are laid out differently on yours.

Sounds like when i took my new vw to the dealer for a front end noise turning and breaking... They assured me the noises were "normal"
The XS-1500 Pro is an absolute killer light. I have the XS-1500 and my jaw hit the floor when I saw the spec sheet for the Pro. The spectrum is really nice but the uniformity is amazing; definitely the best light for a 2' space. And putting a pair of them in a 2' x 4' is an incredibly cost effective solution.
Re. the LED's that are "out" — they're located in the same relative position and, rather than them being non-functional, I'd posit that those are far red diodes. I've never seen one, mind you, but Bugbee describes far red as being hard for humans to see and says the color is like that of an electric stove element. Does that fit what you're seeing?

These are the xs3000's. Just 2 xs1500's with a rail kit for $150.
That's definitely what they look like to me, and I don't think 4 brand new fixtures would have all the same lights out. They are killer lights. I got 2 xs3000 next to 2 xs2000 in a 4x8. Ks5000 and 2 xs2000 in the other 4x8. I'll be grabbing 4 more of the xs3000 for the new 4x8 once they go on sale again. Can't wait to run some of bob bitchens beans under these puppies. I have 8 chernobyl, 2 girlscout cookies, and 2 mocha berry almost ready to clone, then the testers go in.

I just checked my light again. This time, I laid some pieces of cardboard over all the other diodes to see if, in fact, these two diodes were even lighting at all. It seems they are indeed lighting, but they are SO dim, I can't imagine them having any kind of effect on the plants. They must be there to amp up the micro moles per joule thing. But, IF that's the way those two diodes are supposed to look, then I'll roll with it. It really is a very bright light and seems to be well-made. I'd just like to see someone else's lights that are the exact same model as mine with the same diode layout. If it turns out that everyone's XS 1500 Pro is the same as mine, then I'll feel much better.

Quality control is not hard to achieve these days and the companies that we deal with - Mars, Vipar, Spider, etc. - are not fly by night companies so I'd put my money on those being IR diodes.

Just noticed that they've got pushlock connectors. That's a nice touch. My Mars SP 3000 doesn't have that and I had to get creative in terms of lengthening the power cord.
Dismountable drivers, pushlocks, "glue" two of them together using some struts and a Torx wrench to light up a 2' x 4' for $150. And they daisy chain. Excellent.

I had to move her under a different light as she outgrew the XS1500 pro.
The XS1500 pro is a fine light - you would do well with 2 or more. They can be daisychained together via a simple cable ( provided ) and master control ( dim ) with one of them controlling all.
For a 3x3 - handsdown a 4 panel would kill it.
This girl will be getting her top branches supercropped or LST ( tiedown ) like the lowers to finish shaping her.

Im probably going to stick with a 2x4, but once I get a couple grows and schedules together may get a seperate tent to seperate veg and flower. Depends if its really worth it to me.
You initially used the xs for flowering as well?

Yes - for flowering i have used this light on other plants. It is just i was only provided with a single
light to test for @ViparSpectra but it will dawn on you that you can easily scale up your grow with more lights running together. I suggest if you plan a 3x3 in the future - grab them when you can - run your 2x4 with a dual setup and have the others when you move up in tent size.There has been some good deals from what i hear - think someone got one for $80 or less - can’t remember.

I purchased a P2000 for ~$120 yesterday and took your advice on scaling up. The 1500XS was $85 including shipping.
