After a yr or more of research in FINDING a CHEAP ebb and flow tray( not making one for those of us that have no mechanical/building skills..or just plain lazy)>>>I have FINALLY stumbled on the perfect tray and was under my nose the entire time! After many endless hours spent online and many visits to big box stores, nurserys, etc...and realizin many people's prospective & ideas as far as what I could use as an ebb an flow tray (without actually buying one) from the overpriced hydro store or purchase on-line and then looking for a huge ass package from Fedex...NOT! I have heard it all from styrofoam coolers to high-end pricey ebb and flow trays...BUT....drum roll please...lol.....the PERFECT one for me and my area ( 3'x4"..hard to fit) ..was a NATURALLY PLAYFUL SANDBOX (STEP2) AT TOYS R US, believe it or not! The size was perfect cuz I couldnt find a 3'x4' garden tray anywhere in the world. The one I did find was discountinued.
What SOOOOOOO great about this sandbox is that it is made of very durable plastic ( better than a cheap ass kiddee pool), almost exactly 3'x4' AND it has channels at the bottom of it because it can and was also made to be utilized as a GARDEN TRAY too..says it on the product info at toysrus!
I went straight to the grow spot and immediatly drilled the holes for in and out and put it to work right away> 1st with water ( no plants) to make sure it channeled just as I had hoped> and INDEED it did. OMG....i feel finally sooooo accomplished and want to share it wit the world! Normally costs $69 but got 20% off discount in my local toysrus by knowing an employee and had a coupon.
Toysrus said that sandboxes are a year round item compared to kiddee swimming pools that are normally seasonal items.
Wish I had a grow room whereas I could have more than one....my dream room would consist of MANY playful sandboxes as my ebb and flow systems....hope this is informative enough where some of you can now quit searchn as I did> go get one at your local toy store!
