Finally built my little cob light, one slight problem

You guys talked me into it.
Everything went pretty smooth except the dimmer.
I set it to the minimum and turned on the light, only disappointed when I turned the knob all the way up and it only slightly increased the brightness.
I snipped off the potentiometer which of course set it to max and then I was really happy with the brightness.

So where did I go wrong, bad potentiometer, wired incorrectly, or something else?

Connect your potentiometer to one outside and one inside.pin not both outside pins and you will be good to go.thats my guess or you don't have the right potentiometer
