finally...male free

Well I got rid of a hermie that reared its ugly balls Saturday, along with another pure male :( but...my 2 indicas finally showed and both are female!!!

Now I am male free and are flowering 4 sativas and 2 indicas! I am 1 week and 4 days into flowering.

My question is can I still train my plants during the flowering phase, or at least at the beginning without doing too much stress? I want the energy concentrated on the buds definitely, but I also want it to be able to get as much light down in the canopy to energize those bud producing shoots...

huh? no, I ditched the males. so you're saying the top bud is the only thing good? that the lower branches that have buds on them aren't worth the light given by keeping the main branch trained to stay low profile? Should I stop all training now and just let it go, getting light to as much of the plant as I can on 12/12?

oh, and I'm keeping them trained cause my indicas are so short, and I'm using flourescents so keeping the height of my plants relatively the same has been my goal...lol i guess my own type of SoG, using 2 different strains.

there are always a few really low bud sides, (and i don't mean the side branches with buds with this!) which grow only a really fluffy tiny bud, most senior grower cut them simply off really but i use them to grow a few extra seeds instead if i have some fresh pollen.

and you don't have to stop the tying of the plant;) that you can keep until the last day of flower, you only should top them really anymore! that would cut you yield;) but tying is always the way to go to optimise light use and restrain size:)

was just a idea for you how to get a little use out of the sucker buds and your male/ hermie plant;)

well SOG is really more flowering a dense field of clones which still not really matured, a method only for the grower who is short on time;) what you do is the normal optimal space usage as most of us try to do:)

OOoohh. ;) gotcha. Thanks Green. Nah, this is just bag seed from various years ;) lol ...first grow, all that. I do plan on another grow if this one yeilds anything, obviously changing my approach at different stages, but as for pollenating...i'm too n00b for that...i'm just lookin to see if i can grow my own (time-vs-quantity) and stop all the BS associated with buying.

if it works out, i'll probably get some good seed for the 2nd or 3rd.

you gotta crawl first right?
