Finally some common sense out of DC

Except when everyone is buying milk and there is a certain amount produced the price increases as there is less of it. If you limit what can be bought you increase the price even further. What difference does it make if they make unhealthy food from scratch or buy it premade?

What happens when the people that work for the food companies are laid off?

depends how much more it costs to police it.
Where is this milk shortage you speak of? We produce more than we can sell. Again (for the 50th time) WIC has price points for each product that they can not exceed or they will exclude them from the list. Make SNAP the same way.

I guess the laid off people at Red Bull and Cheetos will have to go to work at the dairy or the milk jug factory or the bakery or the cannery or any of these other places that will be doing all this extra business.

How much will it cost to police it? How much does it cost to download a free database from your distributor that you have to have anyway?

How many people are on WIC versus the 50 million on food stamps? How many seniors and the working poor have time to cook three meals per day from scratch?

I think dictating what they buy is more a decision based on emotion and judgement then a sound policy. A better question to ask is why do their poor food choices anger you so? Why isn't it directed at the billionaires that profit from their labor and pay them so poorly that they need the program?

Em...it's kind of expected that one cooks dinner on a daily basis.

Is that not normal?

Could explain the growing elephant population...

It is pretty hard with both parents working. We try to cook dinner everyday. But most days that would mean dinner is around 8 at night

when i see people using food stamps at the store, it generally falls into two categories, almost without fail:

-mexicans and hispanics buying milk, eggs, bananas, potatoes, and vegetables with a balance left on their card

-white trash buying starburst, cheetoes, and red bull with no balance left on their card and two weeks left until they get re-upped

whenever i see the latter, i always look at the cashier and say "i hope that bag of cheetoes can last them until the 3rd of next month".
When those white trash are paying for the items you disapprove of with their card, why don't you direct those comments towards them instead of the cashier? Seems a little pointless mentioning it to the cashier after they leave... :dunce:

oh, are the baby boomers retiring now?*

i bet it's all because of obama, rather than the fact that they are 70 years old now.

i blame obama for old age AND stubbed toes, thereby making me more american than you.
.
People are "retiring" early because the economy sucks. They don't want to stop working, its just not worth it for a lot of people anymore. If I was in my 40's, I would be looking to retire as well. But in a prosperous economy where there is a lot more opportunity and money to be made, I will keep working well into my 50's

people are not "retiring", people are retiring. how many years ago did the baby boomers enter this mortal coil?

hint: it coincides with the retirement age.

you just rebutted yourself as to why the workforce is shrinking, sweetheart.

go back to suspending civil liberties for religions you don't approve of, HITLERworks.

Making foodstamps a less efficient stimulus will lead to more people needing foodstamps and less revenue to pay for foodstamps.
Its not a stimulus its a morally necessary drain on the country that must be kept to a minimum. Your a ignorant little man.
