First DWC Grow: A few questions

This is my first time trying DWC and hydroponics in general. I have a 5 gal. bucket with 2 6" air stones in it and some GH nutes. I'm planing on getting a clone from my friend, but I have a few questions first. What size of a rockwool cube should I use to take the clone? Should I place the clone into the net pot with clay pellets as soon as roots emerge? And lastly should I water the clone from above until the roots can reach into the water? Thanks.

What I did before I had a clone dome, was put my clone in a 1 inch rockwool cube and just keep it moist , not drenched, in a small glass or cup( like typical cup size) on top of some hydroton with a plastic bag over it to retain humidity. also throw some hydroton around it so it stands up and there ya go easy roots, especially if you have hormone.
ps: the only difference in our setups is the size of airstone

I personally use the 2 inch rockwool, but 1 inch will work.

Anyways, it's best to soak your rock wool over night. It has a VERY high pH, so you want to bring it down. Mix up a very light batch of nutes, very light...make sure to adjust the pH, I suggest 5.5 for hydro. Next soak a couple of cubes in it (it's good to have a back up cube for just in case..), over night. Once it has soaked over night, it will be ready for you to use to go take your clone.

Now, as far as transplanting goes, I usually let my roots grow out 3 or 4 inches long. I then carefully thread them through the bottom of the mesh pot. I then put in some hydroton rocks, about an inch, I set the cube with the clone on top, and then I fill the mesh basket up the rest of the way with the hydroton. It's ready to go in to your DWC reservoir now... I attached a couple pics I took of me doing this.. Hope it helps.

Good luck to you..
