First DWC grow

Did you use a panty hose stocking to put the castings in while brewing? It captures most of the particles. Any residual won't hurt anything tho. Snipping the leaf is not causing the drooping, it's something else, most likely the same issue, O2. Drooping is almost always O2 related unless it coincides with cycle times (like before lights out, plants know it's coming and start drooping).
I put it in a sock like heisenbergs thread said. But I guess a panty hose would have been finer. Iunno how its being o2 starved(actually now that I think about it they've been drooping since Friday when I got the RW soaked, but the RW is dry now. And im still doing 24/7 so no cycle changes. Should I be doing 18/6 now? Oh and is it bad to shut the lights off to get better pictures for like 5 minutes? I've been doing that and I've been wondering if that is messing with them.

So I'm not supposed to cut off dying leafs? Your grow still seems to be doing good! Ima keep up with closely
Thanks, its been a turbulent ride for sure, the server crash wiped it out but whats posted in the beginning got crushed by my lights and drunkenness. This is I guess 2nd grow, but first didnt count :(

I'm not sure, now that I think of it they were drooping since the RW got soaked during bucket changes on Friday.

u can stick with 24/0 for veg. Personally I've always done 18/6 but you can do 24. I wouldn't ever turn the light off if you do tho because the plant won't know how to handle the darkness and may stress a bit. Leave the dark for the flower cycle unless heat is an issue then 18/6 might be advisable.

That's FUCKED up! Ah I see... I'll have to read up on that for peace of mind.

I'm kinda trippin because my plants don't seem to be growing very well. I took the rw out of the net pop starve it so it can root all the way down like somebody suggested. I hope that works! I'll probably put it back in on sunday. That's the day I plan on getting my technoflora recipe for success kit :)
Lol

The problem is the room drops to like 60 degrees or colder with the lights off. Summers coming so that might change.

Gotcha, no more turning that light off. Hopefully they didnt get stressed.

Yeah Wcoasttokin, you're going to want the RW to fill up with roots first. First grow on this thread no roots, this recent one I had a ton before I put them in the buckets.

My flower room goes from mid 70s to mid 60s no worries. I have had the temp change for years during the spring months, plants don't mind.

I have done 24 and 18/6 to me 18/6 was what the plants liked best.

Lots of people say the same thing. So I'm just wasting electricity here for those extra 6 hours lol.

Yeah I was afraid it'd be too cold for them cause that'd probably drop my water below 60F. When my rooms like 78 the waters 66 room 68 waters 60f. I can only imagine how cold the water will get if room hits 60 or below.

Once I have my flower area going ill do 18/6 for veg and moms and during those 6 hours of off time run my 600w HPS. I need to get creative on how to block light from exiting my tent but still allowing air in the tent. Got a few months to ponder it.

One factor that many use for temp fluctuation is a silica additive.. I use DynaGro ProTeKt... everyone else makes a similar product. I think it makes all the difference in the world, the ONLY additive I will NOT run with without, period. it also helps in absorption, plant stem strength and some other beneficial areas.

So is that what people use silicon for? Last night my water was 14c which is under 60 probably 57/8 or so.

Day 34 from germ

Bubba 76 - 5.9/.86/14.1C
Veneno - 5.9/.74/14.5C
FCJ - 6.0/.79/15.7C

The veneno is only like 1/2 inch bigger than when it got put in the bucket 2 weeks ago. Not much leaf mass gain since last thursday

Bubba 76 is 1-2inches bigger, but not much in leaf mass gain since last thursday pics.

FCJ is about 2 inches bigger, a lot more leaf mass since last thursday.

They were all about the same size and have been slowed by something. Leaves are still a bit droopy on the Bubba 76. Seeing what the FCJ is doing i'd say its definitely stunted.

hey mate hows it all going. im coming in late here so i may have missed a few details so be sure to correct me if im wrong.

first up run 18/6. plants need some dark time, they do all sorts of things in the dark that they dont do in the light.

secondly the drooping looks like overwatering now i know your doing dwc so that sounds stupid but it still applies just in a different way. first up how far up is your waterlevel?. you want it below your net pots. at least a couple of inches below. u need some of those roots hanging in open air so they can breath.

also have u got enough airation. you want a lot of air. airstones are a very inefficient way of putting oxygen into your water so use lots of them.

also u should be adding h2o2 to all your water. it will help increase oxygen in the water and kill any nasties. that is of course unless you are trying to breed beneficial bacteria in which case avoid the h2o2. dont use it if your using a zyme type product either.

root tonics are great too like rhizotonic etc but they can be expensive.

hope i helped and didnt just confuse you more lol i will be watching this one anyway and good luck

Been reading up on this myself and im planning on going with dutch master silica gold for this grow (next grow will be all dyna [ya fuck you cheese ^_^ im trying it. lol])
The silica gold is 14$ and it is about 3-4 times as concentrated as the AN Rhino Skin (same basic thing)
Does the proTech from dyna have more than just silica?

I did go over some of this stuff, but since you're trying to help me i'll go over it again so its all consolidated for you. By the way, thanks for following!

About the lights next grow I will do 18/6 I just don't want to confuse them now.

My water level is really low, the FCJ is 7in, the veneno and Bubba 76 are at 8in from rim of bucket. About 4 inches under netpot so theres tons of roots in the open air. I did fill the bubba and veneno initially at 7in, but the RW got soaked(i think from moving the buckets with water in them) and then I noticed the drooping.

I have 40L/min going to 3 buckets. Works out to the FCJ having 10L/min and the veneno and bubba having 15L/min using 2 general hydroponics dual-diaphragm air pumps, so I don't think lack of air is the issue. The top of the water is like an ocean all turbulent.

I used to use h2o2, but didn't have much success. I'm breeding bennies now as of Sunday. Yeah I learned my lesson with superthrive and h2o2. Don't mix well.

Yeah i'm hoping I got enough root protection with the tea.

Thanks, and no you didn't confuse me this was stuff i've learned already.

It also contains potassium. 3% and 7% silicon

Sounds like it is all in order. I would change to 18/6.

Plants naturally droop before lights out maybe they are trying to tell u something

Day 35 from germ
Day 16 since buckets

DSC03564.jpgDSC03565.jpgDSC03562.jpgDSC03563.jpgDSC03561.jpg
Bubba 76 - 5.8/.89EC (Started it at .8 EC Friday) I gave it about 5 cups of water PHed to 5.8 which lowered the PH to 5.7/.82EC. Noticed white foam along an edge, real thin. Probably the tea. But the other buckets dont have it. This one also doesnt have a white cover cause i was watching the RW moisture, which is bone dry still.

DSC03560.jpgDSC03556.jpgDSC03557.jpgDSC03559.jpg
Veneno - 5.7/.73EC - Left it alone

DSC03554.jpgDSC03552.jpgDSC03553.jpgDSC03551.jpgDSC03550.jpgDSC03555.jpg
Fruity Chronic Juice - 5.8/.78EC - Left it alone - That gunk looks gross on its roots.

I'm learning a lot from watching this grow... Keep it up. Just a few thoughts though, stop adjusting your ph when it moves up by only .2-.4, you should wait close to a week before adjusting pH after adding nutes. Too many variations in pH can shock the root system. I am currently flowering my first grow and I started from seed in a DWC set up as well. When I started my set up I just germed the seeds in the cubes under 18-6... after about 1 1/2 days I was able to transplant them into hydroton/nets/buckets. I put in 2 cylinder air stones for each bucket and hooked em up to a 7w variable air pump. Simply added 4.25 gal to each 5 gal res @ 6.0ph (no need for lower since i'm not adding nutes) and set the little girls in there. After only a few days I had roots in water and noticeable growth. I kept the water level just below the net pot (like previously mentioned) and just waited it out.

On my 2nd week i did the same thing, no nutes just clean lowered pH water and they continued to take off. On about the third week I had a solid root system that was strong enough to take up nutes so i added 5ml to each tank (1ml per gal) of sensi grow a & b. I started low with my nutes because you can always work up but it's a lot harder to flush and work back down. Like i said this is my first grow, but i have personally witnessed many grows and have been studying hydroponics and botany for the last 3-4 years. I finally have had the chance to do a full grow and I'll just say it is going really well. I wish I had my cable to my phone so I could upload my pics and show you a summary of my grow so far. I wish I would have seen your grow earlier, but i'll be watching from now on. We all learn from each other, only ignorance drives us apart.

Thanks lokie!

Thanks for watching Ch1ppz.

I feed right from the get go so I have to PH the water or they wont get any nutes. And PHing once a day doesn't hurt anything. Anything more than that is a bit much. Right now my plants go from 5.8 to 5.9 in a day and I always PH back to 5.8 everyday. I could let it go to 6.0 but then i'm close to locking out potassium, iron, boron, and for sure locking out calcium.

Right now im feeding .2EC to my Pineapple Express seedling thats growing right now. I've had to give up on too many plants because of slow growth due to them being hungry. But now im experiencing new problems, slow growth due to nute burn. I'll get it down.

I got one plant thriving and 2 that need some perking up and catching up to do. Im thinking of cutting back on their feed to maybe .6EC from .8 and .7.

Also be wary of uploading pictures from your phone as a lot of information about you is embedded into those photos and can come back to bite you in the ass. I only upload from my camera, which doesnt have gps. I look at some pictures I take and theres street addresses attached. Scary stuff.

Good looking out, fortunately I have software for removing that encrypted info. But yeah nutes can get tricky, hope you can figure it out. We all have different set ups, so what works for me won't always work for you and vice versa. I just wanted to give you my 2 cents and hope it helps you in any way. I had 2 plants going at the same time and was giving them exactly the same feed and one took off well past the other, one was a sativa-hybrid and the other an indica, the indica was the slow starter. I haven't experienced nute burn yet, but like I said i usually go well below what the bottle or chart recommends. Anyways, good luck. I'll try to get some nug porn picks of the buds we got from my buddies last grow which I helped and advised him with (we aren't 100% sure on the strain because the clones were kind of just given to us). Then I'll try to get picks from my set up as well just so you can see the progress I had with what I did. I wish you the best man, I'd hate to see you give up. A couple of them look like they are starting to come along.

Truly? Even if you upload onto a website... say photobucket via email?
For reals. If you dont remove it, and most people don't even know its there to remove it, its there.

Psshhh, I aint ever giving up. Not in my vocab. Sometimes I really want to and I always have this anxiety before entering the room fearing my plants are going to be fallen over. I have about 4 grand into the room and still need to build a cloner and possible buy a portable AC. My goal is to get moms setup in DWC and do 35 plant single cola sog on my 3x3 table.

Bud porn is welcome! Come show off your smoke haha
