ok, so i went and got new lights and a nute today. the lights are both 2700 lumens and i got 2 y joints to add more lights, i just have to get a better light holder thingy. the nute i just used on the plant is 30-10-10. the plant doesn't seem like it's doing too well right now so hopefully the nitrogen will help. the gnats are still there and maybe even growing, but i have no way to get rid of them right now. it is still on 24/7 lighting. let me know what you think and please comment!!

thanks for the input guys. yeah at first i did over water it a little, then i let it sit for about 2 days without being watered and it seemed to like that. the nute i gave it 2 days ago seems like it helped out. the leaves perked up. the lights are right around 2 inches away and it seems to like that. i need to get some better holder for the lights so i can use a Y joint and have 2 more lights on the plant. i just need to get rid of these fungus gnats and hopefully that will help it out more. i think i'm getting close to saving it, the next week will tell if i did or not. looking pretty decent now though!! should i cut off the bottom leaves? they aren't doing too well. take a look at the pics.

No do nut cut any bottom leave off till you have a few internodes of growth. You need to find the site of your infection and use some thing like neem oil, or Azamax. Bot of the pestidices are 100% organic and work on everything...at least the Azamax does. As well they are foiliar(taken up through the stomata in the leaves) , and systemic (taken up through the roots and embedded in the plant). Keep your lights close, and keep some wind on them..IMO the seedling look over fertilized as hell! 30-10-10 at 100% strength is entirely too much! Remember the manufacturer suggest that you always give 100% strength. which is ALWAYS too much. When using new nutrients and new genetics ALWAYS start out with a diluted 25% solution for the first week or two...then move up gradually. I bought some dutchmaster gold a couple years ago for a DWC grow. Dont get me wrong powerful ass shit. But going from 25-50-75-100% strength over a month period absolutely killed the plants by over fertilization. The next session i went 2 weeks at 25% 2 weeks at 50% and then the last 2 weeks at 75%. My plants grew bigger, stronger, faster, and yielded more than double the time before. Over 4 grows i never once used 100% strength...I hope this helps!

Peace,

Your doing fine, just make sure you go easy on the watering, other wise you'll drown your roots. I did the same thing so I know how you feel. get yourself some Superthrive and use 1 drop per gallon. Also get a ph meter and keep your water between 6.2 an 6.7. As far as lights those cfl's are fine for starters keep them about an 1" away. And the bottom leafs just leave them alone.
Oh yeah get some fly paper for the bugs.

I'm impressed your plants are reacting positively to nutrients this early. My first 3 plants all got majorly burned because of nutrients (and I did 1/8th the recommended dosage). Even now that mine are 4-5 nodes high, I'm still VERY FRUGAL on the neuts.

Also, got a thermometer? One of my other mistakes was the plants were way too hot from the light being so close and not having enough ventilation.

The other mistake I made learning was I didn't have a fan, and it wasn't humid enough. So they finally died. I bought a cheap $19 humidifier and it's blown on them gently (to promote strong stem growth so it can hold itself up) and keeps the humidity where it should be ;)

thanks for the input guys.

StickeeGreens: I just used about 1/8th the recommended usage for the nute and it has seem to work pretty well. i think it might be on the rebound. i need to get that Azamax though, seems like there are a lot more gnats now.

iron883guy: i don't have a thermometer but i do have a fan blowing on the plant and moving the air around.

seems like the plant is coming back but this week i will be able to see if it will make it or not.

well i got an organic spray for the gnats, it's an Ortho brand, and it seems like it's taking them out pretty well. i just sit there and spray the gnats when i see them move. i think most of them are dead now so that helpful. the plant is getting a lot greener and i see a new set of leaves moving in. on august 12 that'll be a month in veg. should i switch to flowering after that or wait another few weeks?

midget mike: how can you tell the nute burn? what do you see that you can tell? i'm new to the nute scene and put in an 1/8 or recommended and figured it still might burn it but i don't know how to tell.

purplehaze99: everything you see is right around $50. i didn't have a bunch of money to throw into this so i started easy. I already had the 2 small lights and bought the big ones from walmart for $8 each(they're rated at 2700 lumens). the small ones are pretty cheap. i already had a pot but those aren't too much. i got miracle grow potting soil for around $8 as well but i would not recommend getting miracle grow. take a look at a few of the stickys and check out the soil; they recommend something better than miracle grow but it has worked alright for me. as for the nute i got it was $10 from a local nursery and the NPK was 30-10-10. you can do this cheap you just have to think about what you're getting and get it, look for the best deals. the Y joints for the lights were only $3 tops. i just use tap water and let it sit out for at least 24 hours before i use it on the plant. i just hung a sheet in a rectangle fashion in the corner of my closet and put it on the ground during the day to get some fresh air. the fan i got was only about $5 at walmart and it works great.

i am going to switch to 18/6 tonight and 12/12 in a week or so. time to see if this is a female! if it's a male i'm just going to try and bring it up to a good maturity just to get some experience.

i think your plant looks healthy, but i think i see a yellow leaf near the bottom.from what ive read yellow lefs means you have nute burn, but im no expert.

looking good to me so far man, i can tell in the color of the plant that you have done better on the watering problem you had, its looking like its coming along nicely. if it were mine i would wait at least 2 months in veg. before flowering but thats me. trial and error works best from what im told so have fun with it and try new things, that way you know what works better. take a look at my grow if you dont mind. i would love some feedback and we planted our seeds around the same time.

midgetmike: yeah those yellow leaves at the bottom were due to over watering. they pretty much died off before i added the nute.

weedy: thanks man. yeah i wait until the soil is dryish about an inch down before i water now. i'm almost about to hit a month in veg and i just switched the lighting to 18/6. i'll keep it at that for the next month and see how that goes. i may just wait a month and a half though because i don't have too much space. i'll check out your grow now

thats cool man, i have had mine in veg. for about a month now too but on 20 hours light. Im thinking about moving it up to 24 and see what kind of reaction i get. what do you think? i also tried something new with the watering. i checked it (the same way you do in fact) until it was dry to the point that i would normally have watered it and then waited another 24 hours before doing so, a couple of the plants grew a noticeable length and others seamed to grow out, either way i was pleased. just food for thought, i know you want to keep yours within 30 inches, as do i, but if your like me you cant wait to get to that 30 inches. haha. keep it up your plant looks promising. i uploaded some more pics of my grow as well.
