it looks to me of a conditioned called "Damping Off" you were keeping that rockwool wet and not moist huh.... I use to have this problem... But then i made this little upside down bucket deal... use some hydroton pebbles (if you have them already)

with those pebbles your pretty much able to just owrry about spraying them ... they will release good moisture back into the rockwool... 100% success rate.
Should I put them on top like yours or in the pebbles like how i have it?

Thanks for the help my friend :bigjoint: mostly all of my seeds cracked and I just planted 3 of my shwag seeds dont know what kind they are.

Heres my setup as of now im thinking about keeping them in there for a week with the dome on and than a week with the dome off.
Than after that into the hydro system.

The thing is that I'm not always around to water them I have to work everyday, and this time I cant mess up

should I just put them right into my hydro system so they are watered 24/7?

I cant tell if the rockwool is a bit dry or not and as of last night during the 6 hour period of time the humidity dome was fogged out but the rockwool was wet but not moist If ya get what im saying.

Anybody know what I should do? I'm not going to switch to soil

the cubes should be moist. it usually takes a few days for the cubes to dry out. i've never started seedlings like this so i'm not really sure what you could do. :-|

ello,

Sorry it took so long to respond man....on top or in is fine... the most important thing is that it isnt too wet... What i like to do is the following...

I place the rockwool on top of the hydroton and i wet the rockwool with a little water, my inverted bucket has about a 1 inch lip that the hydroton sits in... that i fill up with half way with a little water... but i place the rockwool on top so it can wick the water up during the day.... but not sit in water... ya dig? ... after that i dont add water until its gone....about 1 or 2 days..depending on how much fans and environment.... I would say that you would be fine while your at work... when you get home just spray them down with water but make sure you dont soke it...

let me know if that wasnt clear...

yeha basically you want to ensure that the pebbles are wet.. they will give enough moisture to the rockwool (that is sitting on top) and the rockwool will suck/wick the necessary wetness into it...

The 1st week i spray the dome and the plants when im home from work like 2 times...so say every 3-4 hrs when your home... Just enough to get the dome wet with water droplets... a 1 or 2 spray to the plants and cloes it up again... bam.. 1 week of that and you open the dome halfway or just take it off... good luck bro...

*note - when i spray them down i check and make sure that the rockwool isnt submerged in the water... ya dig?

job done, how often do you change out your water at the bottom of the tray?
the water in the tray doesnt get replaced... it will dry out or get used ya know... its more because you want the hydroton to stay wet while your away.... you can just fill back to the halfway line again and stay away... or babysit and ensure that they keep moist throughout the day by spraying... it all depends on how much time you have for your babies...

I just noticed something when i went back in your thread...

DOnt use a humidity dome with seeds....

Just want to make sure you got that..lol...humidity is for clones..sorry about all that spraying the dome shit...lol... Just do the same witht he water and hydroton and spray the rockwool only if it needs it... It shouldnt really if you just keep the water lvl.. Although piece of mind ...and a 1 or 2 spray on each block if they look dry shouldnt be too much wetness... when the seeds pop up you dont have to spray the leaves or anything

yea i gotcha, i have the rockwool on top of the pebs not touchin the water but close. That sounds like a great plan. Does the pH have to still be between 5.5 and 6.5 when i spray the dome?

oh and I have a mad awesome heating pad, should i pop that in or theres no need because im only running my exhaust right now to keep the light cool and its bout 78 in the tent and my dome doesnt have any holes in it.

hey bro ...read this...

Germination

IMPORTANT:
* Don’t cover pots with plastic wrap, don’t use a humidity dome, or place pots/rockwool cubes in a propagator that’s completely covered! This prevents fresh air exchange, raises humidity to excess levels, and easily facilitates the spread of fungus. The seeds then rot before they can germinate. Excess humidity coupled with lack of oxygen is the #1 cause for poor germination results!

Day 2 lookin nice genfrancos method is working awesome :weed:
And there they are.... so now that they are up you can continue to hand water (i beleave it recommended with your buckets till they get bigger root system) or put them in your buckets and start your automation.... just make sure they dont go dry... you know... those roots are gonna need to stay moist so they dont die.
Good luck bro...
