I want a neighbor that I can snag ladies from! Is it going to be your first try with coco? I’m real interested in coco but didn’t find much info. Not thinking about growing any medium other than soil anytime soon but if you find ANY good info and if you don’t mind please PM me!

So many hours of “youtubbin” grow420guide, and yet I still missed almost all of my “fimmings” FIM is challenging, or at least for me it’s been real tricky.

My intent of FIM was to SCROG, neither really worked out this first run. Would love to see you give it a try!

I always saw “lollipopping” more for a mother/clone setup, Are you going all out? Here in Cali having a plant limit I’m more interested with SCROG over SOG.

Im turning on the HPS Sunday 12/9/2012 at 6am PST can’t wait to see what 54hrs of darkness does to them! :weed:

18/18? Blame it on the weed!:eyesmoke: More typo’s? Blame it on not having a high school diploma:dunce:. hehe

Thank you FlightSchool :). This 48hr dark period is killing me, missing the ladies so much!:wall:
When does the sun go out for that long, why such a long dark period? Why any at all, I usually just change from 18/6 to 12/12 and within 7 days see flowers

Hey RIU!
So this sunday 12/09/2012 I started my 12/12, can I smoke my plants already:weed:?!?

600w Distance.jpg

The ladies are all doing great, the last LST session I gave them 12/05/2012 I guess I was way too stoned/excited... I really snapped those bitches .

I was also too stoned calculating the “48hr” dark period to flip them good, ended up giving them 54hrs of darkness I didn’t open the tent didn’t want to fuck up the light cycle even more with my impatience i’ll have plenty of opportunities to fuck up the light cycle:eyesmoke:. But once I turned on the 600W HPS and I could get a look they were thriving like nothing ever happened to them :).

12/09/2012 - 12/12 started under 600W HPS from 6am-6pm. The tent gets much warmer with those extra 200W. I’ve had to turn the fans up a notch, keeping the tent between 70°F-75°F.

12/10/2012 - I took some quick measurements to see how much are they going to really stretch after flipping.

Cannalope Kush 16inches
Kosher Kush 14inches avg.
OG-Kush 12inches

It also appears I am too stoned to post some pictures straight.

Cannalope Kush sideways
Cannalope Kush.jpg
Kosher Kush, also sideways.closeupKosher.jpg

Kosher Kush Topped at 2nd node.
Deformed Kosher.jpg
Fimmed Kosher KushFimmed Kosher.jpg

Some of the Ladies are already showing their pistils, specially the OG-KUSH is that normal or a 54hr dark bonanza party fuck up?

Hairy og-kush.jpg

I’ve opened up another thread because I am looking into building a 6 plant veg tent. Currently thought about a smaller 2x4 tent. Having in mind that I have a 400w/MH and also the inline 4” that I might not NEED in the 4x4 flowering tent what suggestions can RIU give me? If a T5/CFL setup is more worth it also let me know. I am in no rush with this tent and I would like the most practical tent that will give me good restults I am planning in purchasing it around early to mid January.

Thank you!

The sun never go's out for that long I wanted to see if it would be beneficial in any way to "induce" a dark period like that. Originally I was planning a48hr dark period but I didn't think it out too much and it ended up being longer... Its my first grow so I have no reference if it has been beneficial but I do have pistils showing the second flowering day.

Thank you mnmobbin!

I'm in love with these airpots next time I'm going airpot from day 1! The only issue I've seen with airpots is that it drains TOO MUCH when watering and I haven't figured out a drainage reservoir solution or something.

I have a botanicare 3x3 inside diameter flood and drain tray in one of my bloom tents to catch the run off then it drains into a pan below it. Im only loosing 6" of virtical hieght and its a life saver with the airpots. currently doing a sog in .3gal airpots but I use the tray when I grow big trees too.

Wow, you must have a pretty sweet setup... I thought about the drain tray just didnt want to spend that much money I guess Ill just go that route. Is the tray lifted? Did you buy some kind of frame to lift it?

after about 18 months I finaly have my setup I dreamed about lol. I picked my tray up used on cl for $70 so wasnt bad.

They sell the stands but there like $150 so I just put a concrete block under each corner. The back two corners are lifted an extra 1/2" with small wood pieces for proper drainage then my water catch tray is a long pyrex baking dish. Ghetto but works lol.

Looking good, just changed over watching heat increase, at 81 degrees at plant top level, was about 75 with the 400 watt MH, hope to lower it, added fan increased flow rate on both internal fan and external blowing air into tent. Its 73 above the light which is still about 6-10 inches above the ladies

As far as the deficiency, looks like cal /mag deficiency or heat burn on the foliage.

Do you use cal mag?

Interesting that your doing 600w in 4x4. Is your canopy 3x3 or what?

How much heat to "heat burn"? I personally wouldn't guess its heat burn the tent hasn't been getting THAT hot. But maybe it is a cal mag deficiency, because I am not aware of what cal mag is... I don't have time to research tonight, but tomorrow I will definitely read into it. Any help Sr.Verde ? Any "cal/mag for dummies" advice?

And yes the canopy is around 3x3, is it going to get much bigger?

Thank you

Hello RIU!

Today I placed tomato cages around the ladies, and while I was mangling them I took some pics under CFL's to be able to show the true colors, is this a Nitrogen deficiency? I'm still under the first week of flowering should I still use more "growing" nutrients?

Picture taken after 54 hour dark period, first week under 12/12 600w HPS. Been veg under 18/6 400w MH for 6.5 weeks.

Soil - Roots Organic
Nutes - Really diluted Fox Farms trio
Humidity - 45% avg
Temp - 77° avg

The water’s PH is a bit high using regular tap water.

Thank you :)

I am at about the same as you, using Fox Farm at about 75% of recommended , I also add 1 tsp of Cal Mag per Gallon, water / well non clorine is at or around 6.5 Ph also on the non fert water days I add 1 tsp molasses per gallon.

Cal Mag are the first two numbers in the 1-2-3 nutrient contents breakdown. Usually new growth is a bit lighter then the established big fan leaves. Someone smart could tell you why. I have read that a lot of people add a bit of cal mag on top of their regular nutes to give the plants a bit more OOMPH in the veg phase. I think calmag is an actual product let me see....

Ah yes, here we go:
http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-BCCMGAL-Botanicare-CAL-MAG-Quart/dp/B000J2CUPW

I'm sure there's a lot of similar ones. This is just the first one I saw.

Heres another:

http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-GH5312-Plant-Nutrition-1-Quart/dp/B002R1MDQE/ref=pd_sbs_lg_6

The description says this:

  • CaMg+ helps optimize plant nutrition
  • Resulting in enhanced growth and healthier flowers and fruits
  • It is a blend of fermented calcium and magnesium complexed with organic acids and sugar chelates
  • Low molecular weight acids may facilitate calcium and magnesium transport into the plants

*Shrug* I really don't know, though. I'm a newbie just like you. Your plants looks pretty healthy to me man!

My understanding is that it is needed when growing indoors more cfl/led but still needed for HID/HPS.

Man now I'm going to read about Molasses just peaked some threads and it sounds interesting, when are you using molasses all of flowering or just the end?

Beautifully explained RonSwanson, not sure if the plants need Cal Mag but I'm always down for some OOMPH in my veg hahaha.

Hello RIU

Girlfriend just got an Iphone5 and I’m real stoked with being able to take vertical panoramic pictures, you can really “see” the grow with this picture.

I heavily watered them yesterday 12/14/2012 with just water wanted to flush them a bit. Sunday 12/16/2012 they will be fed a full dose of all three Fox Farms nutes, maybe also getting CaMg+ if not too stoned to go to hydro store this weekend.

In the picture you can see that I still have a lot of vertical space, really hoping the ladies grow as much as possible.

Thanks
