Hey guys Ive started an aerogrow with 2 clones. They were 7 days old when I got them and are now about a month and a week in, on 24hour light cycle. I have a airpump with a small small airstone that im going to replace asap. I just got a nice digital timer and 2 42watt CFLs about a week ago. I replaced my tin foil surround with this white plastic tarp thing that the hydro store recomended. They are on a general hydroponics 3 part nutrients.. The floragro, floramicro, and florabloom. They are at about 2,300 PPM right now. I made ghetto Co2 by sugar and yeast in a bottle as well.

My questions as of now.. Is this enough lights?? Should I be giving it more of a certain nutrient right now? And should I switch them to 12/12 to start flowering? Should I have them turn on and off at different times different days?? Im taking pics right now and will post them up:eyesmoke:

I would say more light. If your willing to go HPS, you can do a 150 Watt HPS for really cheap and you will be amazed at the difference it makes. I was absolutely stunned. Plus a 150 does not put out much heat if your worried about that.

Good luck and I look forward to the pics.

I have a pretty big closet. I could definatly see myself doing that. I think my friend was mentioning he had one i could use...

Should i be trimming any leaves off to let others get more light and some have brown patches I think from the spider mites i encountered the past few weeks

i went hps and will never go back... i have a small 100w hps and i have to cut leave so that the lower leave get more light or the lower buds dont get as big. but this is only for now or till i hook up my 1000w :)

I would second the more light suggestion. when deciding when to flower, most people never think about overhead space. your plant will grow 3 times as high as it is right now by the time it is done flowering. you don't want to bend the stalk over unless you have to. just another factor to consider....

I have like a 9 foot closet. I could make them monsters but Id like to take special care making it covert.

Yea but if they got too high the light system id have to switch out. So basically what should I run them up to before I flower with the lights I have? I want as much bud as possible

Well im in a crunch right now. They are already flowering. The little teardrop buds are starting to grow!! I have the 3 26watt CFLs the aerogrow came with and 2 42watt cfls in fixtures that I just added.
Will I be able to get bud off this setup or should I buy more CFLs or just say fuck it and get the HPS light??

And what should I be doing nutrient wise, should I add anything else??

I want to build an enclosure out of cardboard, ghetto I know but I think that would work fine lined in that matting shit the hydro store sold me. sound good?

Yea im about to go to home depot I think. I see the security lights people do, I may be interested in doing that..
Did you need to buy a ballast? And I assume im going to need to splice wires to make it plug into the wall correct?

It's personal preference man. You will have better results with an HPS light but people do grow with only cfls. It never hurts to get more cfls but if you are satisfied with what you have, then leave it at that. Its your grow my man.

True but ive spent around 4-500 on the aerogrow, extra lights, ph/tds testers, airpump and such, I got great clones so I might as well take the extra 50 bucks or so to make it more badass correct?

going from CFL to HPS how much am I looking at a jump in my electricity bill?

If you worked electrical you wont have a problem wiring it. Trust me dude, I know nothing, absolutely nothing about wiring and I was able to do it. I think you need a 14g extension cord (not 100% if its 14g), cut the length you want. Your going to need the male end of the extension cord. Just strip the wires and connect the colors. Simple stuff. Someone had posted instructions with pics on how to do it, but I can not find it.
