All advice is much needed and appreciated. Here's the situation. I live on the ny/vt border and the daytime average temps are down to high 50's and night temps are now showing frost 35-33 a few days a week. It's getting very Fallish with winds getting very strong at times. The good news is budding is going nicely, getting denser by the week, hairs are starting to turn colors BUT trichomes are clear or milky white.
1) Should i harvest now and not chance a hard freeze? Or is it worth it to let things go another week or two and get more development of buds?
2) It's been raining parts of almost every day. Am I in trouble if I have to pull them in the rain? Would there be something special I should do if it's wet?

Hi pilny1, Let them run for another week or 2 buy some contractor garbage bags and cover the plants at night.

NO do not harvest now

Don't worry about the rain worry if it rains for days straight

Thanks Blaze. I don't know if I can get another two weeks growing time up here. Going out to get the bags now. I'll put up some pics later today so you can see where I'm at. Just afraid to lose the whole thing after five months...they're my babies.

This is representative of the crop I don't want to lose to the weather. Frost, freeze, hard freeze??? What the heck is the difference? How much further can I push it without loosing everything?

Hi Kali. The short answer is I don't know how many weeks since budding. Best guess is 8 weeks(?) Since this is my first grow I was just happy they budded. Also the seeds are of no specific variety, they were what I had on hand.

I live a bit north of you in eastern Canada. We've had 2 frosts so far. Lots of frost on windshield of my car those mornings .Never hurt the plants(WW strain).I've had to rip out small pieces of mold on some of the buds.4 to be exact on 18 plants which isn't bad. That's my concern right now.I check them every day.
If you only have a couple of plants, you could make a small greenhouse with clear plastic and 2 by 2's.I would do that if I didn't have so many plants

you could harvest now if you wanted...i prefer to let them go the full 9-10 weeks or as needed...depending on the high you want to get from the buds. A easey to mild freeze could be okay for plants, and they will live thru it, marijuana is a tuff plant...but severe freeze will kill it. Meaning if your temps get below 40F.. i would pull them up or move indoors to finish.

Your plants will have acclimatized to the environment, its getting colder where u are so your plants will be hardier than you think.. A frost is when the temp hits 32, dont worry if its 36` outside, thats still +2`C.. plants will be fine at that temperature.

I dont put blankets on my plants unless the weather calls for a chance of frost, 0`C.. or if theres gunna be no cloud cover on a cold night, then there's a much better chance..

So, imo, dont worry right now, by the looks of that pic, u still have a solid week of flowering to get thru before i'd harvest

:peace:

It's almost 3am, temp is 37, not much cloud cover though. Another frost warning for tomorrow night. If I get past that I should be able to go at least another week, hopefully two. First grow so it's killing me waiting and waiting and on top of that sweating out the cold weather. Thanks everyone for the help. Chromer
