First Grow CFL, Bucketeer with a drip

I moved some Hydroton around a couple days ago and noticed a good amount of roots trying to find that deep water. I got excited and covered her roots back up. I know the roots might take a bit longer to get into the bucket because of the size of this basket. Does the larger basket really influence the final size of the plant? I may move to smaller baskets in the future. This thing holds a lot of hydroton lol.

Hey ol hippy. The sh multiple plant tubs was something I looked at for EVER when I was trying to figure out what to grow. But I didn't want to deal with crowding issues other people were running into as well as having to seperate the hermies and males from the tubs when needed. I think I big multiple tub would be great for starting seedlings or clones though. I think ill build a multi tub with smaller baskets for the future to start seeds and sprouts after a couple weeks move to seperate buckets.

Oh also Sunday I drained and replenished with just ph'd water. Gave the bucket a good scrubbing with just water to flush out what little traces of hydroton dust that had escaped my initial rinsing session. It was just some fine dust that had settled on the bottom of the bucket. No big deal I was gonna mix in some weak micro nutes when her roots finally hit that water.

The size of the basket does not affect the size of the plant, because even with a small basket, there is plenty of room for roots to grow. The advantage to larger baskets, however, is more stability. I used the 3.75" net pots for my first grow and had to tie up my girls to keep them from falling over. I am upgrading to 6" baskets next time.

Ahh thanks Lt , I never thought about stability being an issue. It's just a pain not seeing dangling roots yet. I'll tough it out lol

She's a week old today so that makes day 7 above the surface.

Anybody think I should start feeding her yet? Maybe 1/4 micro or something? She's just on Ph'd water still.

Steve you really should invest in a daisy cloner. Cut down on time alot and you can start your clones a month before harvest. That way when you start your new grow your clones will be about 5" tall.Just something for the future after you establish a mother plant. How is your bucketeer working im thinking about picking up the three bucketeer system from SH? BTW your seedhouse white widow seeds are fantastic,keep your PH at 5.7 they will love you alot

Thanks for the link Lt. I know I have read that thread before on my quest for knowledge but it somehow got buried in the bookmarks! I gave her 1/4 dose micro and grow yesterday afternoon. This morning I woke up to some roots poking out of the basket reaching for that water. She must have gotten a taste of the nutes and went hunting for more! I may get some pics of the new roots tonight if I have a chance.

Picture time again, I wasn't going to take pics today but I noticed some neat color changes going on so decided to share them with the rest of the class. I think the coloring on her stem is crazy looking, perhaps i'm just baked and easily excited. either way... Enjoy, or don't... I guess that's cool too.

She looks happy man. I've seen the coloring on a lot of seedlings, and it usually doesn't mean anything, but you never know, right? I have to say, I am impressed with your photography skills. Keep it up!

your plant looks very happy and healthy. definitely a faster growth than my soil hph grow. how long do you plan on vegging her for?

Clasonde, thanks for stoppin in. I really haven't set a date to end vegging. I think I'll let her tell me and start to show signs of wanting to crossover. I'm only growing one plant and plan to try some LST, so space should not be a problem. Just more lights Can't wait to see how yours turn out , full detailed smoke reports will be in order!

Now for the pics, lots of kick ass things goin on up top, looks like we are buildin a plant! I noticed I have about 5 super white roots poking out of the bottom of the basket. I'll try and get some root pics later on when I have somebody to hold up that giant basket of rocks while I work the camera.

How about a real post today. It turns out when I get a little over medicated the quality of my images and the ability to hit the "Submit Reply" button go right out the window. Yesterday I had a pretty long post about the damage to the leaf and blah blah but I closed my browser after attaching the images without hitting submit... It happens.

Sunday I drained and refilled with ph'd micro/grow nuted water. Upon placing the basket back on the bucket some hydroton slipped a bit and knocked the plant over. She bounced right back up but ripped a leaf. Monday morning she was growing pretty strong, so it turns out that she got pissed off and is now determined to grow big enough so the hydroton will no longer pose a threat to her. Things are lookin up today, I think we are back in business.

I even added a family shot with the hydro jalapeno.

I backed my lights off a little yesterday morning to try and get her to stretch a bit.

That's too bad about the torn leaf, but I'm sure it will recover. Why do you want it to stretch? This doesn't really make sense unless you're trying to do a SOG or something. Please enlighten me LOL.

It was more of a trying to avoid heat stress. My lights were sort of bleaching the new growth. Figured she didn't enjoy the lights in her face yet so backed them off. I watch this thing grow ALL the time lol. When I see signs of something being out of balance I jump in and address the issues at hand
