First Grow - CFL

No update pics today. I forgot to get pics before lights out. Sorry.

Doing well. More pistils on the Little Mutant each day. Still very early though, so there isn't much in the way of bud formation. It is coming though.

The big one is still hard to tell. I can see a couple of pistils on one branch tip, but none of the others yet. It is going to have lots of nice tops. I can count a possible 16 right now. I really hope it doesn't turn male on me. It is doing too well to go to hell now.

Update:

I got a couple crappy pics. Its not much but at least its something.

Here is the general look of the canopy right now. This is mainly just the bigger one. Looks fairly good so far. I'm happy with the growth considering how much I am stunting them. They really are just in 1 gallon pots, so I am sure they are very root bound. I would love to give them more space but I just can't with my 3.75 sqft tent. Control is the name of the game right now. I will be giving them more light though, so we will see how they respond to that. Also an upgrade to the ventilation system. New exhaust fan and interior fan to keep the air moving nicely now that we are into flowering and watering more.

This is how the Little Mutant is looking. Not a good picture at all but gives the general idea of what each of her 5 tops look like. Pistils are continuing to appear, and the bud sites are growing. I'm very happy with her.

LK Update:

Both of the Lemon Kush seem to be doing alright. The first one is still looking strong.

I'm continuing to mist them and I added a bit of water to the base as they were getting very light.

I guess if I am being honest I should actually say that I have bought materials and supplies for several grows. Not just this one. All the materials and parts I have bought for the tent and such will be good for many grows if I want. I have enough seeds to last me a long time, and actually if I do some of my own breeding I have enough strains to last me forever actually. I even have enough nutes for a while. As long as I continue with the soil grows, my recirculating Hempy will go throw my nutes in a single grow. I didn't buy enough Hydroponic nutes for more than one attempt. If I can see a significant improvement with the Hempy then I will buy more, for now I'm going with the cheapest Lucas formula I could get. Even that was $22 plus shipping. From what I have seen in other threads it will be worth it to spend the money to create a Hydro system. I have it all put together to have 2 recirculating 4 gallon Hempy buckets growing at once. Of course I am going to have space issue really fast if I try to grow 2 at once in my little tent. Hmmm... Time to spend more money!

do you sell any of your weed or is it all for self use? Because with one or 2 of your nice grows you could pay back all your material =P

Jad3,
HELL NOooo.

I only ever do things to learn and have fun. That is it. I don't need the money. It just isn't worth the risk. I may live in a country that is socially ambivalent regarding MJ but you still get put in jail for selling. I can make money legally. I have no need to do it illegally.

I will likely throw away or compost part of every grow I will do. I can't smoke more than a small amount myself and I don't have GOOD friends that would want it.

I grow for the sake of the grow. That is it.

Update:

I put in 4 more 23 watt bulbs. 2 5000K for the Lemon Kush seedlings and 2 3000K for everyone. I put them under the canopy at the long sides. They really do increase the amount of light underneath. I was going to trim the little branches but now I think Ill leave them.

The temp went up to 32 Celcius quickly, so I upgraded the ventilation. I added a bigger exhaust fan for the air scrubber. In went a 5" desk fan to circulate the air inside the tent. And I added a 4" intake fan that blows on the desk fan. I'm going to leave the tent for a couple of hours and see what happens with the temp.

I need to do some work on the exhaust. The new fan is loader than the old one.

Update:

So I left the tent closed for 3 hours with all the new upgrades running...
Looks like the temp leveled off at 30 Celcius. Not bad, but no what I would like it to be. I would prefer 26-28 Celcius. I would feel better with that.

I'll have to think about it a little. I could add a second intake fan. But then they would be pushing more than the exhaust fan can pull. I could also just increase the passive intake a bit...

wow, I see you love your growing. I do to. But man do I love to smoke my product in the end. It's so rewarding.

It's a shame to put good bud to compost though haha

Put it all in a crate an ship it over, I promise I'll take good tokes for you =P

If only it was possible to just ship it around the world without any worries... I would happily trade samples and seeds if it was legal.

Oh well. Maybe one day.

Until then journals and advice will have to do.

Update:

So I checked on the tent before lights out... temps got up to 34!! Then I realized that the circulating fan was off. I turned it back on and repositioned it. I'm thinking I will have to add another intake fan. The increase in lights is making a big difference. The only question with a second intake fan is where to locate it. I already have one that is down at the bottom, so I'm thinking midway or higher. Get some cool/fresh air coming in above the lights. Not as high as the exhaust but close maybe. I could have a passive intake at the bottom and an active one near the top... Hhmm.

I'm going to have to do a bit of work on light sealing these. They leak a lot of light.

are you seeing any growth at 34ºC?

My little girls stopped growing at about that temp. I hope yours are more hardy and don't get as affected!

Update:

So I came home this afternoon to find the temperature back at 30 Celcius. Not so bad... but bad enough. I am now seeing some heat stress. Clawing of the new leaves.

SO I turned off the 2 Flouro lights on the sides. Now that I have added the 4 new CFL lights on the sides I don't really need the other 2. So I will wait and see how they look tomorrow. I am definitely going to have to add a second active intake fan. I think I will put it right in the middle. This will blow over the lights for the first half of the grow then on them as the flowering progresses. This should help.

I watered all of them. Watered and misted the Lemon Kush. They look alright. Not as good as yesterday but not bad. Hopefully being lower and away from the lights is helping them to handle the temps better. They also have the fans blowing around them.

I'm feeling a bit better today. I came home to find the temperature sitting at 27 Celcius. Much better. Everybody looked fairly good. Still a bit of heat stress on the Little Mutant but that was only on one tip.

Pistils are appearing all over both of the girls now. I actually feel like I can relax a bit. I will get something out of this in the end.

Lemon Kush:
They are both looking the same. No real change so far. I'm not sure what I expected. The bigger one had the tap root poke thru the bottom of the coco coir but I let it air prune itself. I'm leaving them for a bit longer before a repot them. I can put them into half gallon pots for now. I may not be able to fit more than that.

I guess if I went with that and then transplanted into the one gallon pots that would work as well. I did not position the other two WW with the plan of having 2 other plants growing.

Update Time:

Bud PORN!!

Please forgive this Bud Porn Virgin his crap pictures. It's my first time.

Growing tops...

Not too bad in my opinion.

And a little up the skirt!!
Everything is small still, but then we really are just starting to get into the flower development. They are still young. Teenagers really... Shit they might be UNDERAGE!!
Sorry, feeling weird today.

LK Update:

Small but hopefully still growing slowly under the surface. I'm going to be transplanting very soon.

Update:

The bloom is continuing fairly well so far.

The denser and nicer looking development is on Little Mutant. She is doing very well considering how pathetic she looked for the first couple of weeks... hell 4 weeks.

I'm starting to see some trich development on her.

will you feed it any kind of molasses? THey say it helps with densing up the buds, I'm quite curious as to if I should do it =P

Jad3, I was thinking about it. I've only ever fed it to animals, never plants. Might be worth a try. I can see how it might work in a soil grow... help the plant by helping the soil.

I added a few lights to my grown and have been dealing with high temps too, my temps stay around 80 degrees which is about 30 Celsius. It doesn't seem to be affecting growth though so I am not changing anything.

Little mutant is going to end up being your biggest producer I bet!

You may be right. She looks good. The other has the potential to pack on a lot of weight near the end but so far it hasn't.

Update:

Everyone seems to be healthy. Nice colour, drinking the nutes and water every day. No signs of nute burn or deficiency that I can recognize. I just need them to continue to grow and put on some weight.

Look at the difference between these two. The Little Mutant is on the left looking stocky and with much tighter nodes. The other on the right is stretching taller and spacing the nodes much further apart than I would like. If I can get some pollen from the male I will try for beans from both of them but I would prefer the Little Mutant right now. She has matured faster and is looking fairly good so far. Only real question is the end product quality. Only time will tell.

LK Update:

Looking better. Starting to get some actual growth from them now. I am going to assume this means they have started to send roots out of the vermiculite I started them in.

The odd look to the pic is because I had just sprayed them with some water.
